HWPL
INTRODUCTION OF HWPL
Since its foundation in 2013, HWPL has
grown exponentially in terms of both sup-
porters and influence worldwide. With peace
as its core value, HWPL has operated a
number of campaigns and events across
the globe to unite individuals from all sec-
tors and levels within society. Within only a
few short years, HWPL has partnered with
citizens and organizations from over a hun-
dred countries in order to advocate peace
on an international scale, particularly
through the advocacy campaigns for an in-
ternational law based on the Declaration of
Peace and Cessation of War(DPCW).
Through the hosting of annual events, such
as the World Alliance of Religion’
Peace(WARP) Summit and the Peace
Walks commemorating the Declaration of
World Peace, HWPL continues to gather
additional support from individuals, civil soci-
ety actors, national leaders, religious lead-
ers, and others under the common goal of
a world free of war and conflict.
As more people are being awakened to this
era of peace, the light of peace has con-
tinually brightened and spread like the first
glimmers of dawn transforming into the full
light of day. When the world unites with a
single heart for peace under the values of
heavenly culture that transcend divisive
boundaries between communities, the flower
of peace will soon bloom and peace will be
left as a legacy to future generations.

In the 2014 WARP Summit, heads of states and representative leaders from 12
religions signed an agreement and declared inter-religious cooperation for world peace.
Afterwards, the HWPL WARP Office was established to discuss fundamental aspects of
religion and solutions to peace based on inter-religious understandings on a wide
variety of topics.
Further, in 2015, the 1st Annual Commemoration of the WARP Summit showed
global support for world for peace. In the Religious Leaders’ Conference, HWPL’s
grassroots experiences in peace-building, particularly in establishing HWPL’s WARP
Office were discussed in depth.

In 2016, the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the WARP Summit was held. During the
summit, over 200 leaders representing 16 religions, gathered to discuss the necessity
of seeking a trustworthy scripture and to reaffirm their solidarity to be active proponents
of achieving peace as religious leaders.
“We don’t just merely continue the dialogue but amplify the Office
of Alliance of Religions for peace to other communities in order to
continue promoting, carrying out experiences of dialogue and
inviting other sectors of the national community for the day of
promise of fulfilling the peace agreement.”
“As you know, all scriptures, for those who believe in them, are
considered as rules that organize the relationship between God the
creator and human beings, so all those books are specifying and
tracing the eternal fate of human beings, both evil and good ones,
as well as specifying the nature of God, and all deeds human
beings should do to live in peace and happiness. So, it is
necessary to search properly in the integrity of the scriptures.”

In 2017, during the 3rd Annual Commemoration of the WARP Summit, under the
theme of “Cooperation for the Realization of Religious Peace,” the International
Religious Leaders’ Conference was attended by 260 religious leaders representing
many of the prominent religious communities worldwide, including but not limited to
Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Hinduism and Buddhism.
"Religions share the same heart in seeking for the absolute truth
because we all face the same sufferings like goodness and
evilness, life and death, wars, etc. For the first time in my life, I
have engaged in very deep dialogues and have seen how it is like
to feel equal on the same table even if we have different religious
backgrounds. This feeling is so strong that I start to imagine how
wars will stop if people will feel the same way as I do."

Just like the WARP Office, the 'Open Dialogue with Religious Leaders' will be carried
out with the dialogue based on the scripture. On the other hand, unlike the WARP
Office, because the participants would have the faith toward the Absolute in common
through the 'Open Dialogue with Religious Leaders,' which is the dialogue with the
leaders of the same religion, more advanced harmony and peace are expected.
HWPL has worked to realize world peace by harmonizing with other religions through
the operation of the WARP Office. One of the crucial assignments for interfaith
reconciliation that HWPL identified during the operation of the WARP Office, is the
harmony within the denominations. The existence of different denominations which were
separated from one religion has served as the impediment to the harmony within
religions, which also had a negative effect on the inter-religious reconciliation.
Therefore, HWPL established the 'Open Dialogue with Religious Leaders,' as the place
to promote the dialogue and communication among different denominations like the
WARP Office as we realized the necessity of harmony within the denominations.

3. Expected Effect
The aim of the HWPL Religious Youth Peace Camp is to engage youth and youth
organizations in dialogue and conflict transformation activities based on inter-religious
and inter-cultural learning.
Camp participants learn about the general history of world religions, find the root
cause of and plausible resolutions to religious conflicts and disputes, examine the
religious community's roles for peace, and experience cultural exchanges.
The HWPL Religious Peace Camp provides citizens and students from different
religious backgrounds the opportunity to learn and experience each other's religion
and build up communication to reduce the barriers blocking proper understanding.
One of the participants commented, “I was born as a Buddhist and had uncertain
fear about Islam. But such thinking faded away as I joined the camp. When I entered
a Mosque and met Muslims, what occurred to me was that they are the same people
who believe God, seek truth and try to live with good heart as we Buddhists do.”
“It is amazing that people from different religions can meet and communicate with
each other about peace. I think peace and harmony of religions can be achieved as
we continue to do this work,” said another participant from the Netherlands.
