Overview for BPF in Unified Model

The Business Process Flow in Unified Model works in a very similar way compared
with the previous release.

There are three main difference:

 Some changes for the UI of BPF design time and run time
 The concept of internal dimension and external dimension
 The available target actions have been adjusted accordingly

Internal Dimension and External Dimension

When trying to assign the driven

dimension in BPF template, users now
can select one dimension from
‘Internal Dimensions’ or ‘External
Dimensions’.

Internal Dimension and External Dimension

In Unified model, users will define the model by using the existing InfoProviders
directly.

For these InfoProviders, users will also use some SAP delivered InfoObjects,
like 0CALYEAR, 0CURRENY. (InfoObject names started with ‘0’).

When assigning these kind of InfoObjects as driven dimension, in most cases,

they don’t have the attributes for ‘Owner’ and ‘Reviewer’ like the one we use in
Classic model. (In Classic model, the ‘Owner’ and ‘Reviewer’ are defined as one
property in the driven dimension.)

Normally we don’t suggest the customer to modify these SAP delivered

InfoObjects by adding the attributes directly.

Internal Dimension and External Dimension

The solution is to introduce the concept so-called ‘External Dimension’.

The external dimension is an InfoObject which is copied from an InfoObject used

in the relate InfoProvider including the master data. (For any InfoObject used in the
InfoProvider, it’s an Internal Dimension.)

For this external dimension, customers can then add the attributes for ‘Owner’
and ‘Reviewer’, and maintain the corresponding user names for these attributes.

Since this external dimension is not part of the InfoProvider, the user then need
to map this external dimension to an internal dimension.
