Abstract

This study aimed to examine the frequency of tractor trajectory in the land sloping tillage and its relationship
with growth and yield of soybean. The research was carried out in Sare village, Seulawah Valley district, Aceh
Besar, Aceh province, from April to September 2010. This research using experimental methods that is
organized in a split plot randomized factorial design. The main plot slope factor were 0-5%, 6-10% and 11-15%,
while the frequency of tractor trajectory defined as subplot factor respectively: none, one, three, five, seven, and
nine times of tractor trajectory. The research results indicated that the frequency of tractor trajectory and land
slope were gave significant different to the growth and yield of soybean. The best growth of soybean occurred at
slope 11-15% with three times of tractor trajectory, while the highest yield of soybean was 1945 kg per ha
happen at slope 6-10% with 3 times of tractor trajectory.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to determine the shelf life of lempok durian small size packed bioactive edible
films. The research method was acceleration shelf life testing (ASLT). Lempok durian was packaged by four
primary packaging types such as the aluminum foil (control), Canna edulis Kerr starch edible films, C.edulis
starch edible film combination protein extracts, and C.edulis starch edible film combination Uncaria gambir
Roxb extract. and a combination of secondary aluminum foil packaging. Lempok durian were stored at a
temperature of 25 C, 30 C, and 40 C with 75% RH. The parameters observed were shelf life of lempok durian,
o o o

free fatty acid levels, total fungal colony, and organoleptic test. The results showed that the shelf life lempok
durian packaged aluminum foil (control), Canna edulis Kerr starch edible films, C.edulis starch edible film
combination protein extracts, and C.edulis starch edible film combination Uncaria gambir Roxb extract were
191 days, 122 days, 113 days, and 33 days, respectively. Total free fatty acids of lempok durian increase
during storage for all types of packaging where as C.edulis starch edible film combination Uncaria gambir Roxb
extract increased the smallest than others.

Abstract
The research was conducted on the secondary metabolite containment of Laban plant (Vitex pinnata Linn.) in
Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. This research aimed at: 1. Identifying the secondary metabolite compound on V.
Pinnata plant which grow in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam in the process of phytochemical sceening; 2. Finding
out the distribution of secondary metabolite compound from V. Pinnata plant that grow in different place in
Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, wether it contains the same secondary metabolite compound or not; 3. Finding out
the containment of major secondary metabolite compound on V. Pinnata plant in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam; 4.
Providing initial information on the containment of secondary metabolite of V. pinnata plant in Aceh that can
referred to the further research and providing information to the community on the chemistry compound
containment of V. pinnata plant. The result of phytochemical test show that: 1. The is no difference of
secondary metabolite compound between V. Pinnata that grows in Lueng Bata, Banda Aceh and V. Pinnata that
grows in Panton Labu, Aceh Utara; 2. Qualitatively, there is a different of secondary metabolite compound on
the leaves and stem bark of laban that are growing in Lueng Bata, Banda Aceh and in Panton Labu, the leaves
from North Aceh commonly contained more flavonoid compound, meanwhile on stem bark dominated by
steroid compound.
Key Words: Laban, Vitex Pinnata, Secondary metabolite.

Abstract
This study aimed to determine the quality and processing profiles of palm sugar production in Aceh Besar
Regency. The method used was observation by using a questionnaire and laboratory analysis. Data were
descriptively analyzed and compared with the standard of SNI. The results showed that the production of sap
(Palm Juice) was about 2-5 liters/day/stem, with an average of 3.8 liters/day/stem. The sap was tapped 2 times a
day. As much as 85% of sap was used for palm sugar production, 5% converted into vinegar, and the rest 10%
sold for fresh drink. The end shape of palm sugar would be in condensed form after cooked about 3-5 hours
called Meulisan Joek. The results of chemical analysis showed that only sugar reduction of sugar palm meet SNI
standard whereas the moisture and ash contents of sugar palm were still under the standard.

Abstract
The objective of this study is to analyze the feasibility of using a dryer which used the solar and biomass
energy for drying cloves (Syzygium aromaticum). The drying process was conducted in 6 days (42 h) with
drying capacity of 144 kg wet cloves. The cash flow statement of drying cloves for a year had counted a net
revenue of Rp. 4.521.560,-. Under the assumption that every year the dryer could operate in a constant
condition, the net present value (NPV), which was calculated with discount factor of 14%, was positive at
level of Rp. 585.361,-. The internal rate of return (IRR) value was about 14,7%. Therefore, the dryer is
feasible to be used with the payback period after 5 year operation.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to improve the quality of smoked banana in Aceh by scraping the tannin and vacuum
packaging. The effects of tannin scraping on the banana surface and packaging methods (using LDPE plastic
with folding carton and LDPE plastic vacuum with folding carton formed box) on the quality of smoked banana
during the storage (0, 6, 12 weeks) were investigated. The results showed that scraping the tannin could improve
the color quality of the smoked bananas from 144.08 TCU (darker) to 266.25 TCU (brighter). The packaging
methods and storage time affected the total sugar content of the smoked banana. The longer storage (0-12 weeks)
decreased the total sugar, increased the total acid, reduced pH and water content of smoked banana. The results
showed that tannin scraping, vacuum packaging of the smoked bananas stored for 6 weeks represented good
quality of smoked bananas, and thereafter, it decreased, except for organoleptic color, aroma, and texture.

Keywords: smoked banana, scraping the tannin, vacuum packaging, quality characteristics.

Abstract

This further research was of feasibility study of Arabica coffee factory and design of the processing plant
Arabica coffee according to Faznah (2009) with the thesis title of the layout design of arabica coffee processing
plant. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of the design of the processing plant arabica coffee in terms of
economic costs. Research stages include data collection of fixed costs such as salaries of permanent employees,
the cost of depreciation of tools and machinery, electricity for lighting, electrical load costs, maintenance costs,
and building tax, while the variable costs consists of raw materials costs, fuel, lubricant costs, and salaries of
freelance employees. For the analysis stage in the study consisted of the analysis of total capital investment,
fixed costs, variable costs, total production cost, break even point, net present value, internal rate of return,
benefit cost ratio, and pay back period. Investments consist of the sum of the analysis of fixed capital and
working capital. Analysis of production cost per month is Rp. 2,684,177,503.05. While break event point (kg)
produced equal to 13156.07 kg per month (Rp. 374,948,026.47 per month). Break event point occured after 3.5
years of payback period. Analysis of net present value and analysis internal rate of return respectively are Rp.
15,310,323,228.45 and 19.93%. Furthermore, analysis of benefit cost ratio and analysis of pay back period
respectively are 1.06 and 3.5 years. It can be concluded that the Arabica coffee factory is feasible to run or to
operate.
