Create a Survival Tips Poster to help others
The four main ways in which Aboriginal understand how they can use vegetation
and Torres Strait Islander peoples use to survive in the Australian environment.

Process
1. Research:
• a tool made from vegetation that can help you survive in the Australian environment
• vegetation commonly used to create shelter
• vegetation which is commonly used for food by Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander peoples
• vegetation which is used as medicine to treat injuries and/or bites.
To complete the task, you will need to apply an inquiry approach of gathering and
presenting your information. This involves collecting information from a range of
primary and secondary sources, evaluating the usefulness of the information you
have collected and selecting which information to include in your poster. You should
reference any materials used for your research. A graphic organiser has been provided
to help you gather your research and plan your poster.
2. Design:
• plan the layout of your Vegetation Survival Tips Poster
• include labelled diagrams and/or pictures of the vegetation
• display clear information about each vegetation and its use.
A poster design sheet has been provided to help you organise your information in a way
which is visually appealing to your audience.
