Develop and implement engaging lessons in a departmentalized
fifth grade reading classroom using differentiation strategies to
meet the needs of mixed culture, high poverty students. Design
and implement interactive literacy lessons to align with Common
Core Standards through Guided Reading. Technology and hands-
on activities are utilized to foster a high level of student
engagement and learning. Work collaboratively with fellow
teachers and developmental professionals to create effective
curriculum that met the learning needs and abilities of all the
students within my classroom. Develop and maintain a student-
centered disciplinary system (PBIS and CHAMPS) which
promoted positive behavior and fostered a positive classroom
climate. Actively communicated with parents/guardians through
the use of email, phone calls, monthly positive notes home,
conferences, and weekly newsletters. Assess student progress to
re-evaluate teaching methods and determine the need for
additional assistance.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Develop and implement professional development sessions
centered on addressing student literacy. Primary focus on
literacy interventions, participant literacy concerns, applicable
literacy techniques, promotion of literacy based programs such
as Guided Reading and literature circles, identifying appropriate
technology to encourage literacy acquisition, and utilizing
curriculum to meet student literacy needs.

rural, minority group of second grade students in a full inclusion
classroom. Designed and implemented interactive lesson plans
