INDUSTRIAL SAFETY HELMET

SCOPE
This standard covers the requirements of Industrial safety Helmets.
COMPLIANCE WITH STANDARDS
It shall comply with IS 2925-1984. And EN 397 and ANSI Z 89.1 2009 with additional
Conformance to Heat Resistance and Electrical Insulation Test.
• Authenticated photo copies of the latest test certificates (from OEMs, National Accredited Test
Laboratories) to be submitted along with the offer.
• Vendor/bidder to furnish authorization letter from Principal/OEM against the enquiry quoted.
• Vendor/bidder to submit along with the offer, authenticated copy of latest certificate of product
conformity to relevant IS/EN/ANSI standards.
• For each PPE specification, the Vendor/Bidder shall confirm their acceptance to the UPL
specifications by Signing and Stamping on it.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT
1) The helmet shall be made from strong, rigid, HDPE, High-Density Polystyrene, dielectric
material Type-class C, G & E. The helmet has to with stand the impact loading of 40 kN / 4080
kgf ( As per IS 2925 Latest)
The mass of the helmet shall not exceed 400 gms.
2) The helmet shall be provided with Harness including Headband, Cradle and Nape Strap, chin
strap
3) HARNESS:
a) The material for harness shall be sweat resistant and non-irritant.
b) The headband shall be not less than 30 mm in width and securely fixed to the shell and crown
straps. The headband shall be readily adjustable.
c) The headband shall be fitted with anti-concussion tapes of not less than 19 mm width, secured
at least at 6 anchoring points, forming the cradle.
d) The straps shall ensure a clearance of at least 30 mm b/w top of wearers head and inside top of
helmet crown at smallest size adjustment and a wearing height of not less than 80 mm at max.

e) Tightening of the head band shall be possible through high quality, non-slip ratchet (rotatable
knob) arrangement at the back of head.
4) CHIN STRAP, NAPE STRAP:
a) The helmet shall be provided with chinstrap made of sweat resistant & non irritating material.
b) The chinstrap shall be of at least 19 mm wide with an adjustment device to maintain tension.
SIZE RANGE OF HEADBAND ADJUSTMENT
a) SMALL 500 - 540 MM
b) MEDIUM 540 - 590 MM
c) LARGE 590 - 640 MM
SAMPLE
Sample shall be supplied along with offer for approval. (Test certificate of sample to be
submitted for approval)
TEST CERTIFICATE
1) The supplier shall submit the test certificate along with the bulk supply as per IS and/or EN as
may be specified in the enquiry.
2) The test certificate shall also indicate Batch No. & Date.
PACKING
The helmet shall be supplied, packed individually for protection from dust & damage

MARKING
The Helmet shall be embossed with:
a) Relevant lSI, EN, ANSI marks
b) Batch No., Month and year of manufacturing.
c) UPL emblem with logo shall be embossed at the front side of the helmet in size 18 mm x 45
mm.
INSPECTION
Inspection will be carried out at our works with reference to the acceptable sample and test
reports. UPL will inspect at works where ever required.
GUARANTEE CERTIFICATE
Guarantee Certificate to be given for any manufacturing defects along with its consignment for
free replacement within six months from the date of receipt at stores.
 SAFETY SPECTECLES GOGGLES

SCOPE
This standard covers the requirement of goggles for use against flying particles, splashing
material, molten metals and dust.

COMPLIANCE WITH STANDARDS

It shall Comply with IS: 5983 - 1980, EN 166 & EN 170, ANSI Z 87.1
• Authenticated photo copies of the latest test certificates (from OEMs,National Accredited Test
Laboratories) to be submitted along with the offer.
• Vendor/bidder to furnish authorization letter from Principal/OEM against the enquiry quoted.
• Vendor/bidder to submit along with the offer, authenticated copy of latest certificate of product
conformity to relevant IS/EN/ANSI standards.
• For each PPE specification, the Vendor/Bidder shall confirm their acceptance to the UPL
specifications by Signing and Stamping on it.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT
1) The frame shall be made out of good quality soft PVC, unbreakable and light in weight.
2) It shall have two polycarbonate lens oculars, non-fogging, antistatic, clear visors of thickness
1.0 mm to 1.5 mm. Lens should have optical quality class-1 and distortion free.
3) The visor shall be free from optical defects like spots, holes, scoring, scratches, bubbles and
mould marks.
4) It shall give protection from flying materials in to the eyes.
5) The frame shall have indirect ventilation.
6) It shall have 15 to 25 mm wide adjustable, good quality, thick elastic Nylon/Neoprene
headband.
7) Lens should have two clear polyester films that can be immediately removed & easily
replaced. Every goggle shall have five clear polyester films as spares.

TEST CERTIFICATE
1) The supplier shall submit the test certificate as per IS along with the bulk supply for
a) Material quality
b) Optical property
c) Shatter proof quality
2) The test certificate shall also indicate Batch No. & Date
PACKING
The goggle shall be supplied, packed individually for protection from damage & dust
MARKING
The goggle shall be marked with the following information
a) ISIICE mark
b) Supplier identity
INSPECTION
Inspection will be carried out at our works with reference to the acceptable sample and test
reports, UPL will inspect at the works wherever required.
c) Batch, Month and the year of the manufacturing.

 SAFETY SHOES (DOUBLE DENSITY PU SOLE)

1.0 Scope
This standard covers the requirement of Safety Shoes (Double density PU sole) to protect the
feet and ankle.
2.0 Compliance with Standards
1. Upper of the shoe shall conform to IS-5677 – 1986 Reaffirmed 1997.
2. Bottom shall be good quality of PU to IS-15298 – 2004
3. Inner toe tongue side lining 1.5 mm – IS-3840 –1996 Reaffirmed 2002.
4. Insole –IS-3840 – 1996 Reaffirmed 2002.
5. Carbon steel toe cap IS-5852 – 2004.
3.0 Technical Requirement
1 The boot upper and bottom sole shall be joined together by -direct injection process.
2 Upper leather shall be good quality chrome tanned plain grain Cow / Buffalo leather 1.5mm
thickness Black in color.
3 The shoe shall be provided with lasting inner sole to the thickness of 3mm (Leather / leather
board)
4. Vegetable Tanned soft Grain Leather, shall be used for insole (Sock lining) toe lining and side,
tongue inner lining to the thickness of 1 mm. Black in colour.
5. The Eye lets shall be of Brass/Aluminum 4 numbers .inner dia 6mm, outer dia 12mm.
6. The shoes are to be machine-stitched and no Nails shall be used shall be Free from nails.
7. Total weight shall not be exceeding 750 grams for pair.
8. Construction, measurement shall be as per international standard
9. PU sole resistance lies above 100 kΩ and is less than or equal to 1000 MΩ when measured
according to EN ISO 20344:2004 (antistatic in nature as per IS 15298 latest)
10. Shoe shall be designed to give protection against impact when tested at an energy level of at
least 200 J and against compression when tested at a compression load of at least 15 kN

4.0 Sample
Sample shall be supplied along with offer for approval only for first time supplier and
Supplies made after 3 years.
5.0 TEST CERTIFICATE:
5.1 Suppliers shall submit the test certificate’s along with the bulk supply.

PACKING:
The shoes shall be supplied, packed in good quality card board box with Two Pairs of Cotton
Lace as Spare.

a) Size of the shoe,
b) Suppliers identity
