As a Lecturer and Field Instructor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, I first had an opportunity to work with Danielle when she took the Teaching of Reading and Literature course that I was teaching in English Education at UIC. When Danielle discussed her beliefs and brought up questions in class, I was impressed with her personal qualities. These included a calm determination to be an excellent and engaging educator. During Danielle's student teaching this spring semester at Clemente High School, I was her field instructor. It as a particularly challenging time at the school because there were many new students who had been displaced by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. Danielle taught ELL classes in addition -o IB seniors preparing to graduate. Given the wide range of student needs, she rose to the occasion, showing remarkable energy, caring, and wisdom. Already at this point, Danielle is an experienced instructor. She has taught undergraduate courses in writing aad literature at UIC. As a Ph.D. student she was chosen to be Assistant Director of the First-Year Writing Program and has worked as a writing coach in many capacities. Her colleagues here at UIC clearly think highly of her. She has an intellectual drive and a mature worldview that serve her students well and she loves what she is doing as an educator, ‘My endorsement for Danielle is unequivocal.
