1. History (A brief history of the Wild Wood Apartment Company)

Wild Wood Apartments is a company which headquarters in San


Francisco but owns 20 different complexes apartments in Washington,
Oregon, California and Idaho. One of the company practices is to hire
one tenants as manager in every complexes apartment, this person has
the benefit of free rent and stipend and part of their responsibilities is to
send reports to the headquarter every quarter with details about
occupancy rate, total revenues in rate, total expense and repairs and
maintenance.

2. Scope (What the database that you will build must do for the Wild Wood
Apartment Company)

The database require for the company must manage information about
every apartment in every complex which include sizes, conditions,
location and last maintenance information, it also register the tenants
information like identify, rent, warranty if required, period and
revenues. All of this information will be save and use to get reports
required in the headquarter office.

3. Constraints (What the database that you will build will not do)

Even when the database will register the tenants information, this won’t
be provide private information from them or the times they get in or out
from the buildings.

4. Objectives (What business objectives the Wild Wood Apartment


Company hopes to accomplish by hiring you to build a database

They will get summarizes reports with the information about occupancy
rate, tenants, payments, expenses in maintenance.
The database also provide important information about revenues in rent.

5. Tasks and Deliverables (The tasks that you will complete in order to
build a database and the things you will deliver to the Wild Wood
Apartment Company)

1. Gathering data: it will be necessary to visit the headquarter office and some of the
building in the different cities to identify the process every manager do. Time allotted: 2
weeks and a half.
2. Analyzing data: this will help to define what is better to improve the process and
determine business rules to be applied. Time allotted: 2 weeks.
3. Normalization: once the entities and relations are defined they have to be normalized.
Time allotted: 1 week.
4. Building the physical database. Time allotted: 2 days.
5. Testing and Security. Time allotted: 3 weeks.
6. Database completion and installation: 2 weeks.

Total time: 11 weeks.
