As Digi Company has continued concentration on current markets, it is located in

Quadrant 1. In this quadrant, it consists of market development, market penetration, product


development, forward integration, backward integration. Horizontal integration and related
diversification. There are 3 strategies which can applied by Digi Company which are market
penetration, market development and product development.

a) Market penetration

Digi Company should bring its 4G Plus Network to more rural areas in Malaysia. It is
because Digi Company now reached 86% of Malaysian users while its LTE-A only reach 45%
of populated areas bringing Freedom To Internet for more people. Digi Telecommunications
Sdn Bhd (Digi) can activate 900MHz spectrum, which allows mobile phone signals to reach
further from base stations to offer wider coverage, now brings the telco's consistent, high speed
4G Plus network to more rural areas of Malaysia.

With introduction of mobile signal on the new 900MHz spectrum, Digi not only reach
further from base stations, but also penetrate walls better to offer stronger indoor coverage.
Digi Company should listen to what the customers want and indoor coverage is an area for
improvement. With the 900MHz spectrum, Digi can be confident of serving its customers
better whether they are in the comfort of their living rooms or at work in office buildings.

As Malaysian are smart and digital savvy, Digi can make its network available throughout
the underground sections of the newly launched MRT line. Before starting penetrating this
market, Digi can start testing its network in these sections.

The launch of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) line marks a
game changer in the country's transportation landscape. With more Malaysians likely to opt for
the convenience of the MRT, Digi should roll out its network coverage to reach customers
travelling through the underground sections of the track thus offering a seamless, consistent
and better high speed 4G Plus network experience.

b) Market development

Digi should use market development as the least significant of its intensive strategies for
growth. Market development involves creating new markets for new products or entering
entirely new markets. This intensive growth strategy is similar to market penetration, but
market development focuses on establishing presence in new markets. Digi applies this
intensive growth strategy by authorizing new sellers in markets where the company does not
have any presence yet. Thus, this intensive strategy applies mainly in developing markets.

Also, Digi should continue implementing the market development intensive growth
strategy through novel products. For example, the company innovates to offer goods like car
grip 360 range, which is an entirely new product line for the firm. Through car grip 360 range
the company develops its reach in the car accessory market. This intensive growth strategy
agrees with Digi’s generic strategy of broad differentiation by expanding the company’s market
reach. Such generic strategy requires that unique products should be offered to different market
segments, which the company reaches through market development.

c) Product Development

Digi should use product development as its main intensive strategy for growth. Product
development requires that the company must offer attractive products to grow its market share
and performance. Digi implements this intensive growth strategy through innovation in its
research and development (R&D) processes. The company’s mission statement and vision
statement specify product development. Through this intensive growth strategy, Digi views
innovation as a critical success factor. For example, the company continues to innovate through
services like e-wallets and payments services. In this intensive growth strategy, the firm also
develops new products for the mobile market. Digi grows because new products and models
allow the firm to generate more revenues. This intensive growth strategy agrees with the
company’s generic strategy by focusing on unique Digi products that can increase profits.
