 Rationale

Through the 12 units of this qualification, I have learnt many techniques and skills to work with in the
media industry. When I first joined the course, I knew the simple conventions of the main genres of
horror and sci-fi. This course has allowed me to expand my knowledge of conventions through both
films and music. Through this qualification, I have experienced a greater understanding of how to work
a film camera to produce different productions ranging from adverts to music videos to short films.
This qualification has allowed me to experiment with different productions within the media industry
and it has made me decided what I would like to do in the future. In the future, I would like to be
involved in the media industry, but I would particularly would like to work behind the camera being a
camera operator. By doing this qualification, it made me realise how much I like being behind the
camera and filming different productions.

Project Concept

The aim of the project is to make people aware of gun crimes and terror attacks in the world but
especially in America and The United Kingdom. I will be conducting this into a charity music video in
the Ska genre. The concept of the music video is to have a twist in the production by making the music
video a performance and narrative music video. I will use my research and different ideas to help
generate an idea for the narrative and performance-based music video. I will be using primary and
secondary to gain some research about the topic. The primary research will be surveys and focus
groups from different age groups to make my music video appeal to everyone. The surveys will be sent
out to a variety of age groups to gain interest from all age groups. The secondary research, I will use
the internet and books to gain information on the topic. I will be presenting the finding in an
infographic to make the information look presentable and professional. I will plan to make sure I have
an allocated time for each section of this unit.

Evaluation

After I have completed my production, I will evaluation how I have done and compare to my ambitions
of the production. I will reflect on the work I have done for previous units to ensure that I don’t make
the same mistakes as I did in the previous units. I will be keeping an ongoing booklet on what I have
done that week and evaluating the work I have done. I will also state what problems I have been
struggling with and how I overcame the problems. I will use feedback from my peers and teachers to
keep adding more ideas to the production. At the end of the production, I will evaluate the progress
that I have made and evaluate my final product.
