Personnel Safety
The high-voltage power supply provides power for running the system. Avoid direct contact with the high-voltage
power supply or contact through damp objects. Failure to do so causes serious injury or death.
Non-standard and incorrect operations on the high-voltage power supply may result in fire and electric shock.
Do not perform operations on high-voltage and AC power supply facilities or on a tower or mast in the case of
thunderstorm. Failure to do so causes serious injury or death.
Ground the device before powering it on. Failure to do so causes damage to the device or personal injury.
Power off the device before performing operations on the power supply facilities.
High power radio-frequency signals are harmful to the human body. Ensure that the transmitter antennas are
muted before installing or maintaining an antenna on a tower or mast that holds a large number of transmitter
antennas.
Do not stand close to, or look into the optical fiber outlet without eye protection when handling optical fibers.
Take preventive measures when drilling holes. Otherwise, dust may hurt your eyes or you may inhale the dust.
Power off the batteries before connecting the cables to the batteries. Failure to do so causes personal injury.
When working at heights, be cautious about falling objects.
Device Safety
Check the electrical connection of the device before operation and ensure that the device is securely grounded.
The static electricity discharged from the human body may damage the electrostatic sensitive components, such
as large-scale integrated circuits (LSIs), on the circuit board. Wear an ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves when
handling a circuit board.
When operating batteries, take proper measures to prevent short circuits in the batteries and electrolyte spill or
loss. The electrolyte may erode metal and boards, or even cause rust of the equipment or short circuits in the
boards.

Instructions and Precautions for Handling Boards
CAUTION
Do not hold a board without hand protection. Wear an ESD wrist strip or ESD gloves before handling a board.
Wearing ESD gloves Wearing an ESD strip Holding a board without hand protection
CAUTION
Hold the front panel of a board with hands.
CAUTION
Insert filler panels into vacant slots on an NE to prevent foreign matters from getting into the NE, which
may result in faults on the NE.
Boards are fragile and valuable. When handling or placing a board, exercise caution and put it into a
dedicated packing box.

UELP UFLP
UELP
INSIDE OUTSIDE
The UELP is a general-purpose surge protection unit for E1 or T1 services. A UELP is used for surge
protection of four E1 or T1 signals.
The UFLP is a general-purpose surge protection unit for FE or GE services. A UFLP can be used for surge
protection of two FE or GE signals.
NOTE
The SLPU is 1U high.
If the RTN 950 is installed in the APM30H or TMC11H cabinet, or if the RTN 950 and wireless equipment are
installed in the same cabinet, the SLPU is optional. If the RTN 950 is separately installed in the APM30H or
TMC11H cabinet, the SLPU is mandatory.
You can select the port type of a board that corresponds to the SLPU based on the port type of the RTN 950.
NOTE
The SLPU is generally equipped with two UELP boards and one UFLP board. If more than eight E1
signals are transmitted, one or two extra UELP boards need to be delivered with the equipment and need
to be installed in the vacant slots of the equipment on site. If more than 12 E1 signals are transmitted, the
UFLP board needs to be replaced with the UELP board. The removed UFLP board needs to be returned
to the local representative office of Huawei.

Fireproof mud
Apply baffle plates to the cable outlets on the base. Apply fireproof mud to the surroundings of
the cable outlets on the base.
NOTE
• Check whether the paint on the surface of the cabinet is scratched. Repaint the cabinet if any paints
are scratched.
• If outdoor cables may be exposed to damages, they must be routed through a pipe, such as a
corrugated PVC pipe, to protect them from being damaged.
• A non-outdoor cable to be routed out a cabinet must be protected by a pipe. The pipe must be led
into the cabinet base for about 30 mm to 50 mm, but not into the cabinet. The pipe end must be sealed
with waterproof tapes or silicon gel. The pipe must be secured to the cable hole at the cabinet bottom
using sheet metal.
• Cables to be buried under the ground must be routed through a pipe.
• The fireproof mud can be applied to seal the cable outlets of the base, but cannot be applied to seal
the cable outlets of the cabinet.

Checking the Installation
3 The deviation of the cabinet is less than 3 mm horizontally and not more than 3 mm vertically.
4 All the bolts are tightened, especially those for electrical connections. The flat washers and spring
washers are installed completely and properly.
9 All labels, tags, and nameplates are correct, legible, and complete.
3 No tapes, cable ties, wastepaper, or packing bags are left around the equipment cabinet.
4 All the items around the equipment are neat, clean, and intact.
32
3 Checking Electrical Connections of the Cabinet
No. What to Check For
1 All the self-made PGND cables are copper-based with proper wire diameters. There is no
switch, fuse, or short circuit on the cable.
2 According to the wiring diagram of the power system, the PGND cables are connected securely,
the AC lead-in cables and cables inside the cabinet are connected properly, and the screws are
tightened. Ensure that the output and input cables are not short-circuited.
3 The redundant part of the power cable or PGND cable is stripped off rather than being coiled.
4 The lugs at both ends of the power cable or PGND cable are soldered or crimped securely.
5 Bare wires and lug handles at the wiring terminals are wrapped tightly by using insulation tapes
or heat shrink tubes.
6 The flat washers and spring washers are mounted securely to all the wiring terminals.
7 The connectors of all cables are securely linked, especially those at the bottom of the cabinet.
8 The cables are properly bound. Cable ties are installed at equal spacing and in the same
direction.
9 The power cable and PGND cable are routed separately from other cables.
12 The excess of cable ties is trimmed off without remaining rough edges.
33
Checking the Power-On Status
NOTE
This part describes only the process for checking the power-on status of the AC power equipment. When checking the power-on
status of the DC power equipment, refer to the process for checking the power-on status of the AC power equipment.

4 Repairing Paint
1. Codes of Color Samples
2. Operation Instructions
Polishing
If a damaged area is stained or the materials are rusty, polish the damaged area or the rusty materials by
using a piece of fine sand paper to remove the stain or rust.
Cleaning
Use clean cotton cloth to rub the stain or dust on the surface of the area to be polished or repaired.
Paint repair
Apply brushing paint in an appropriate color based on the original coating. Before the repair, shake the paint
properly. Then, use the small brush inside the bottle to absorb paint and evenly spread the paint on the
damaged area till the scratch/damage is covered. Note that the paint coating applied needs to be thin and
even. Ensure that drops do not appear on the paint coating and the surface is smooth.
Drying
Put the surface of the repair paint in a place at room temperature for 30 minutes, and then perform
subsequent operations.
Quality
The color of the surface of the repair area is consistent with that of the surrounding areas of the repair area,
without obvious edges and bulge. The scratch or damage needs to be covered properly, and no paint is
dropped.
