ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO

September 25-26, 2010

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This weekend, we celebrate Seminary Sunday in the parishes of the Archdiocese
of Chicago. On this occasion, we honor the ministry of the many priests who serve
you so faithfully each day, as well as those who are preparing to serve you with that
same charity in the future.
Here in the Archdiocese of Chicago, Mundelein Seminary is a place where voca-
tions to the priesthood are discerned and strengthened. Each year, as I ordain the
graduates of Mundelein Seminary to the priesthood of Jesus Christ, I do so with confi-
dence that they have been formed for fidelity and service. The best example of the
work of the seminary is reflected in the quiet and compassionate ministry of your pas-
tor and parish priests as, each day, they live out their ordination commitment to bring
Christ to you in word and sacrament. I thank them for their good example and you for
your prayers and financial contributions which provide our future priests with the edu-
cation and environment they need to “prepare well” to serve God’s faithful. I ask you
to pray for those whom God is now calling to the ordained priesthood from among our
families and friends. Talk to young men you know whom you judge would be good
priests; encourage them to explore the possibility of priesthood.
I ask you to especially remember your bishops and parish priests each day in
prayer. You and your intentions are in my own prayers. Thank you and may God bless you.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I.
Archbishop of Chicago

We welcome in our parish today Seminarian Wojciech Oleksy from Mundelein. On his behalf and
on behalf of all Seminarians studying for Chicago I want to thank you for your prayers and generous
support of them and our Seminary System. God Bless!
Fr. Rich

It’s that time of year again to purchase your Football Mania tickets.
What is Football Mania, you ask?
It’s St. Albert the Great School’s annual fundraiser based on pro-football with six (6) prizes each
week and two (2) Grand prizes. Each ticket has a 1 in 48 chance of winning. Tickets are $20 each
for the entire 17 week of the pro-football season. Last year’s Football Mania fundraiser had many
winners including a school family winning the Grand Prize. So get your tickets early.
Remember it’s one of your fundraising obligations. With each ticket purchased your name will be placed in a raf-
fle to win an Autographed Dan Hampton (Chicago Bears) Football. Winner of the raffle will be announced after
Week 8 of Football Mania.
How will I be notified if I am a winner? You will be notified by phone or e-mail if you are a winner.
How will I receive my winnings? You will receive a check from St. Albert the Great School.
FootballMania sweepstakes are exciting and engaging for participants because each ticket holder has an equal
chance of winning. Each FootballMania sweepstakes ticket contains 3 random teams in each week of the Foot-
ballMania season - a different set of teams each week. No two tickets have the same 3 teams in any given week.
Winning tickets are determined based on the points scored by the football teams assigned to it. If two tickets have
the same score, the total yards gained by the 3 teams is used as a tiebreaker. The four highest scoring tickets and
the two lowest scoring tickets each week win prize money!
Thank you for your support of St. Albert the Great School celebrating 57 years of Academic Excellence.
For Football Mania Information and Tickets, please call at (708) 670-0675 or

RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY
On October 3, 2010, we begin the celebration of Respect Life
Month, proclaiming in a particular way the sanctity of human
life from the moment of conception until natural death. .
This year’s theme is
“The measure of love is to love without measure.”
In keeping with Respect Life Month, here at St. Albert’s we will
have a PRO LIFE HOLY HOUR in reparation for the sins of abor-
tions on Sunday, October 10th at 3:15 p.m. We will come together
and pray the rosary and benediction.
Please, join us for this very important service.
St. Albert the Great Pro Life Committee.

Fr. John Bosco dedicated himself entirely to the salvation of young people, especially orphaned or aban-
doned who were exposed to many dangers of both body and soul. He
managed to establish and open in the outlying suburb of Valdocco his first
oratory. In it, the boys found food and a bed. They would study or learn
a trade, but above all they learned to love the Lord. On them Fr. John Bosco
spent what little money he had, his
time, his most extraordinary
talent and his health. With them,
he became a saint.
In the tradition of pilgrimage,
the relics of St. John Bosco are being carried into the towns and
villages, neighborhoods and centers where the Gospel is announced
among the young and the poor today. The relic will travel to
Chicago and will be available for viewing at St. John Bosco Church
2250 N. McVicker, Chicago, Il 60639, Saturday, October 2nd –
Monday, October 4th.
Our Youth Group will go on Sunday, October 3rd for 1:00 p.m. outdoor Mass and will stay for Youth Rally
until 6:00 p.m. We’ll be leaving from the parking lot about 11:45 a.m., anyone who would like to join us,
please contact Fr. Rich or our Youth Ministers by calling St. Albert the Great parish at 708-423-0321.

ARCHDIECEZJA CHICAGO
25-26 września 2010 r.
Drodzy Bracia i Siostry w Chrystusie,

W ten weekend w parafiach Archidiecezji Chicago obchodzimy Niedzielę

Seminaryjną. Oddajemy dzisiaj szacunek zarówno tym, którzy służą Wam wiernie
każdego dnia, jak i tym, którzy dopiero przygotowują się, aby w przyszłości służyć
Wam z takim samym oddaniem i miłością.
W Archidiecezji Chicago miejscem, gdzie rozpoznaje się i umacnia powołania
kapłańskie jest Seminarium Duchowne w Mundelein. Każdego roku, wyświęcając
nowych kapłanów, których Chrystus powołał do swojej służby, czynię to
z przeświadczeniem, iż otrzymali oni dobrą formację w zakresie wiary i posługi.
Owoce tej formacji wyniesionej z seminarium najlepiej odzwierciedla cicha i ofiarna
posługa waszych proboszczów i księży parafialnych, gdy każdego dnia wypełniając
swoje kapłańskie powołanie niosą wam Chrystusa w słowie i sakramentach. Jestem
Proszę was o modlitwy w intencji tych osób z kręgu waszej
rodziny i przyjaciół, których Bóg powołuje obecnie do kapłaństwa. Inicjujcie rozmowy
z młodymi ludźmi z waszego otoczenia, którzy według was mogliby w przyszłości być dobrymi księżmi;
zachęcajcie ich, aby rozważyli możliwość wstąpienia do seminarium duchownego.
W sposób szczególny proszę was, abyście każdego dnia pamiętali w modlitwie o waszych
księżach i biskupach. Wy wszyscy wraz z waszymi intencjami jesteście obecni w moich modlitwach.
Dziękuję i niech Wam Bóg błogosławi.
Oddany w Chrystusie,
Francis Kardynał George, O.M.I.
Arcybiskup Chicago
