Fishing is the activity of hunting for fish. It is an ancient and worldwide practice that dates back about 35,000 years and may be an
individual necessity or a collective undertaking involving large groups. Techniques for catching fish include hand gathering, spearing,
netting, angling and trapping. With over 28 million participants devoting nearly 467 million days to the activity, the fishing community has
become a means of sport, hobby, and occupation.
We’ve created a community model around the essential elements of what’s most important to the fishing individual and community. We’ve
structured the influence of the diagram around the responsibility of the individual radiating out to the community, as well as the community
funneling down to the needs of the individual. This ripple effect creates a constant state of healthy interaction between members of the
community.
The individual, with several different means of fishing as: competition, a pastime, and
occupation the fishing community is made of of many different personas.
This is chris. Married with two children, this middle to upper class business man can handle
multiple forms of fishing, both salt and fresh water. At the age of 50, this texan businessman
fishes as a release and leisurely pastime.
Russell, this 20 year old youth is a freshwater familiar academic and is constantly involved
with numerous outdoor activities between classes, friends, and family.
If you see individuals wearing hats, hooks, waders, tan lines, have callused hands, or
speaking in a foreign vocabulary, these are distinct symbols that you might be in the
presence of a fisherman.
Every individuals membership starts with their goals and motivations.

They fish for a release from the 9-5 work day, the pride of competition, for physical exercise,
maintaining nutritional health, providing food, educating others, and love interacting with
nature.
Relationships, from interacting with other members of the community,

relationships provides an emotional outlet for some, and a sense of nostalgia and family
security for others.
Knowing your role within the community is a vital element to creating a healthy working
relationship.
