Dear Melissa Betancur:

I am applying to be a future student at North Carolina State University. I believe that my passion
for Math and learning, as well as my high level of academic success, will make me an
exceptional member of the Wolfpack family.

During my visits to NC State, I have become increasingly interested in all of the opportunities
NC State’s Engineering department has to offer. Last summer, I gained experience in Electrical
Engineering at a week-long camp at NC State. I expanded my Engineering knowledge this year
as the only female to complete a Computer Engineering class at my school. This summer, I will
continue learning about Engineering by job shadowing with Holly Miller, the Assistant Town
Engineer for Wake Forest, and with a Cisco IT Engineer for three weeks. With my countless
experiences, I have developed into a high-achieving, detail-oriented, and positive student.
