wasted or spoiled food and other refuse, as from a kitchen or household

kusina o sambahayan (Google, n.d.).

Plastic pollution in our oceans is a serious issue -- it affects marine wildlife

like whales and lobsters, and is so persistent that some of these 'gyres'

have formed their own ecosystems. Yikes!

But these bits of plastic contaminating the oceans have to come in from

somewhere, and often it comes from human activities along the shoreline.

Disposing of waste has huge environmental impacts and can cause serious

problems. ... Some waste will eventually rot, but not all, and in the process it may

smell or generate methane gas, which is explosive and contributes to the

greenhouse effect. Leachate produced as waste decomposes may cause

pollution (Google, n.d.)

Exposure to hazardous waste can affect human health, children being more

vulnerable to these pollutants. In fact, direct exposure can lead to diseases

through chemical exposure as the release of chemical waste into the

environment leads to chemical poisoning (Google, n.d.).

There are lot of items that we use everyday and then get rid of them by throwing

them in the garbage. Unfortunately, this results in pile of garbage as we throw old

items, as well as packaging of new items (Kukreja, 2018).

Garbage has become a serious problem in the world today. According to a report published

in Nature journal, the problem of garbage or solid waste is assuming terrible proportions

today. By the end of this century (2100,), garbage will be collected at the rate of 11 million

tonnes per day globally, more than three times today’s rate. It implies that the garbage-

generation which amounted to 3.5 million tonnes per day in 2010 will become 6 million

tonnes per day by 2025.
