Desnutrición: ¿cuál es el problema?
• Entre el 25 y el 35% de los pacientes hospitalizados sufren de
desnutrición (Kondrupt et al 2002)

Complicaciones de la Malnutricion.
• Mayor susceptibilidad a las infecciones
• deterioro de la cicatrización de heridas
• Retraso en el crecimiento
• Desarrollo cerebral deteriorado
• Implicaciones para la salud a lo largo de la vida (es decir,
salud ósea)
• Aumento de la mortalidad / morbilidad
• Calidad de vida reducida
• Aumento de la estadía en el hospital.

Exclusiones y resumen de 'PYMS'
• Exclusiones:
• Pacientes <1 año de edad
• Cuidado paliativo en etapa final
• Los protocolos locales permanecen en su lugar
• PYMS debe completarse dentro de las 24 horas
de admisión
• La solicitud dietética debe tener puntaje PYMS
• Repite 'PYMS' semanalmente o después de 3
días si el puntaje 1
