BOOMING

CITIES, UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES: A REVIEW

The article presents the tremendous industrialization describing the current status of one
of the biggest state in the United States of America. Despite and in spite of the emerging
modernization and total transformation, it connotes an impact on the other side of the
hemisphere. The article illustrates the pattern of the prosperity of urbanization and the extent
of needs that it should cater the people living on it. However, there is one good question that we
should also consider: Can everyone afford given the rising cost of living as an effect of
modernization?
On rising incomes, rising rents, and greater homelessness. It portrays a clear picture of
how the booming economy affects the many. Not all people are provided with work
opportunities. Hence, everyone faced the battle of crisis. With rising income, it imposes mounting
prices of commodities, services, taxes, and other needs as well. True to its effect, many
individuals suffer from poverty – one day one eat concept is not new to some of them. Granting
that the government is implementing programs that allocate funds for the poor, yet it cannot
provide sustainability for the matter.
In the Philippines, the poverty incidence for the whole 2015 has declined to 21.6% from
25.2 percent in 2012 and 26.3% in 2009 as reported by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
It means, with an emphasis on more than 26 million Filipinos remain poor with almost half, or a
little more than 12 million, living in extreme poverty and lacking the means to feed themselves,
according to official government statistics for the first semester of 2015. It is why the homeless,
unemployed, and underemployed are still existing in the country despite the rapid growth of the
economy.
On the congestion penalty from urban success. Writing on attracting energetic residents
and thriving businesses are signs of civic progress. But they also make traffic worse, as does the
growing congestion caused by e-commerce deliveries. This statement provides accurate
depiction as it is entirely existing even in the smallest area of urbanization. As experienced in very
own city, traffic jams are rampant causing stress from people taking the commute. The car
industry is offering minimal down payments enticing the community to purchase not knowing

the effect of congestion. Lack of enough widened road, non-compliance with driving and parking
rules, chaotic traffic, and road management are the primary factors of this community problem.
How do we inflict solution on these unintended consequences? Research-based
information from baseline data is proven useful as a basis for analysis and implications. It is
essential in determining the existing problems to the significant population with attached
recommendations on how it can be handled. From the proposals, a logical framework should be
crafted out of it. Hence, these valuable inputs can be used for policymaking. Policymaking with
adequate verification as it will give the policymakers the entire picture of realities in the
community.
