LBXM = TECHNICAL Total Product Support BULLETIN DATE: 11/2008 SERIES: X2 NO: 10 SUBJECT: Fuel Filter Replacement Procedure MODELS: All X2 Series Machines PURPOSE: The purpose of this bulletin is to caution all service personnel not to pre-fill new fuel filters when servicing the engine fuel system on all X2 models. When servicing the fuel system and changing the fuel filters on any X2 model, Do Not Pre-fill the fuel fuel. The pro-flled fuel does not pass through the filter media and could contain contaminants. The contaminated fuel could reach the high pressure pump or high pressure injectors. This can cause damage to these components rendering the engine under powered or inoperable. Procedure: Install new fuel filters and o-tings or gaskets. Do not pre-fill the filter with fuel. Use the electric feed pump or the hand priming fuel pump to fill the fuel filter. Open the vent port on the filter head to bleed the air from the system. After the air is purged from the system, start the engine.* * Refer to the engine manufacturers’ instruction manual supplied with each machine for the recommended procedures for changing fuel filters and bleeding the system.
