Action Plan

There are so many people that are unaware of what is going on in the world right now.
As a class, we decided a world issue that we can research and maybe even fix, or draw
awareness. The issue that I chose for this project is Human Trafficking/Slavery in Africa. The
reason for me picking this issue is because I feel that many people don’t realize how big of an
issue this is in Africa right now. Drawing awareness to this issue, many people might be able to
realize how serious this is, and what might we can do to change it. I feel that as a community
and as people we should join this cause. If we all join together and understand what is going on,
we might be able to change it. Once word gets around that our community is trying to change
this issue, it might persuade other communities to join in to change this issue. Doing that, we
might be able as a country to stop it from happening. If we join together to help rebuild Africa, it
might stop many of issues they are having there.
There has been many attempts to change this issue and to stop it. The Trafficking
protocol(U.S.: Efforts to Combat Human Trafficking and Slavery). If he divides benefits if

Slavery). It states in article 3(a): “The recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt
of persons, by means of threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud,
of deception, of abuse of power or of position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of
payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for
the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation shall include, at a minimum, the exploitation of the
prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labor or services, slavery or
practices similar to slavery, servitude or the removal of organs.”(U.S.: Efforts to Combat Human
Trafficking and Slavery). “The Trafficking Protocol gives governments a framework for providing
human rights protections to victims of trafficking, including medical and psychological care,
appropriate shelter, legal assistance, protection and safety, temporary residence, and safe
repatriation.”(U.S.: Efforts to Combat Human Trafficking and Slavery). It was proposed in 2000
but has not yet been passed on a global scale (U.S.: Efforts to Combat Human Trafficking and
Slavery). The only thing that was bad about this, was it was never passed.
Another way that they try to help out the situation is U.S. Trafficking Victims Protection
Act of 2000. It covers all forms of human trafficking(U.S.: Efforts to Combat Human Trafficking
and Slavery). “Women, men, girls, and boys are trafficked and forced to work or provide
services in or on farms, factories, restaurants, homes, brothels, and bars.”(U.S.: Efforts to
Combat Human Trafficking and Slavery). “The varied settings into which people are trafficked,
the common element in all trafficking cases is the ongoing violation of the person.”(U.S.: Efforts
to Combat Human Trafficking and Slavery).“It is vital for the U.S. government to address
trafficking in all of its horrific forms.”(U.S.: Efforts to Combat Human Trafficking and Slavery).
Having more widespread of this issue would benefit on a global scale on how bad this issue is.
These both were some form of law that many people didn’t really understand were being
passed. I feel that if more people knew what these laws are, they would pass really easy.
They tried going a different way to stop this issue, going through people bank accounts
to see where they are getting and putting their money. Many people are paid to take these
people and once taking these people they are wired the money and because of this law in place
they would research weird actions. Another thing others have tried to help is through a different
way. “The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) provides a clear framework for legal, operation
and regulatory measures that can be forced upon the banking system – and other transactional
industries such as online gambling and real estate brokerage.”(Morais, 2016). Going through
how people spend money could actually benefit and stop human trafficking. I feel that many of
these didn’t work was simply because we didn’t take it seriously. The first law was never passed
through when any help would of worked.
Throughout this project, i was thinking of ways i can change and help this issue. I feel
like the thing I could do to help this issue is simply spread awareness for this issue and throw
fundraisers to stop this issue. This isn’t a huge thing to do but to get it started, and to spread
awareness, maybe other people will go further and go to the government to actually pass the
laws. Raising the money would help and sent to Africa to build houses and places for people to
go because I feel that because people are so vulnerable, they get taken. Making these houses
would make it where people have a safe place to sleep and to feel safe. I would also raise the
money so someone can go to Africa and educate people there the dangers. To teach them how
to defend themselves and how to tell when someone is taking them, would help them a lot.
