The US role in promoting non-proliferation among countries with nuclear weapons is that the United
States makes sure that all nine countries with the possession with a nuclear warhead should not use it.
Currently throughout our countries, many have created weapons that can exterminate a large group of
people in just seconds. Only nine countries have been successful in making these weapons but other
countries are trying to develop this weapon of mass destruction. If the United states keeps their end of the
non-proliferation treaty then none of the other countries will try and declare nuclear war against other
countries with nukes. Our current president Donald Trump wants to do the opposite of what previous
presidents about denuclearization and want to build more nukes. With the increase amount of nukes being
built by President Donald Trump it will be seen as a preparation for war. President Trump wants to build
nukes that can be easier to use my the military because he is worried about these other countries making
nuclear weapons. While building more nukes it sends out a red flag because the United States signed a
non-proliferation treaty that prevents the countries that possess these weapons to not use them or built
them.
The Reason why I chose to research Weapons Of Mass Destruction was because not that many
people are informed about nuclear activity that goes on in our countries. In my specific issue of my
research paper is that how is the United States responsible for making sure countries that have possession
of a nuclear weapons does not use them on other countries. A current problems is that our President
Donald Trump is creating nukes that can be easier to use on other countries. My Purpose of this study is
to inform the reader what are current problems about what the non-proliferation treaty is and how the
In the treaty on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons nine countries signed a treaty that they will
not use nuclear weapons against each other or any other countries in an active war. The main
topic of this article is the whole nuclear non proliferation treaty and the nine countries that have
possession of these weapons, signed a treaty to never use them or sell them to any other country

that hasn't developed the weapon. It also has all the articles of the nuclear non proliferation treaty
in which also states what each party stands for. The key point from this article is that when this
treaty was signed which was in 1968, the treaty was not actually in force at that time until 1970.
Another key detail is that the treaty says that parties cannot develop the use of nuclear energy
without discriminating the treaty. This article was more based on how each party State wrote
their own idea on the non proliferation treaty and see if the other nine counties would agree with
The results from this article is that each State party wrote their own idea on what should
be included in the nuclear peace treaty because they are all trying to keep the peace with all nine
of the countries. The reason why this was established in the first place was that it would make
sure the countries that possessed these weapons wouldn’t use them in a war, and to prevent other
countries to develop these weapons of mass destruction. With this treaty in place we should all
not fear other countries wanting to go to nuclear war with us because it is breaking a peace treaty
and this can lead to total war. The U.S. has developed strong nuclear weapons so we should be
safe from other countries wanting to go to war with the U.S. because of how powerful this nation
has become. With the result of this treaty it has kept all our countries safe for more than 20 years
because these weapons of mass destruction are no joke, thousand of people can be killed just
In the article The Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty Then And Now talks about how back
in the days the treaty of nuclear non-proliferation was that countries are prohibited to transfer
nuclear weapons to another country. This treaty was signed back in 1946 after the World War,
and it was signed by nearly 190 countries. Then later on in 1953, President Dwight Eisenhower
Zepeda5
expanded his thoughts on the non-proliferation by saying that the treaty would control all nuclear
activities around the world. The United States wants to make sure that none of the States possess
any nuclear weapons or to control any nukes. Then came along President John F Kennedy and
his plan was to stop trade of nuclear weapons to additional countries that would want to possess
nuclear weapons and he also made ACDA which is the Arms Control And Disarmament
Agency. This Agency would support missile non-proliferation efforts and prevent the acquisition
of offensive ballistic missile programs by other countries. After the Author talks about the
non-proliferation treaty he gives his own ideas on what the President should do, like outline a
In this article the author gives a lot of evidence about the nuclear non-proliferation treaty
and what some presidents have done to add on their ideas to the treaty. The author gives specific
details on what the nuclear proliferation treaty is and how the present Presidents should see the
nuclear non proliferation treaty. In this article the author left out the current Presidents idea and
what the current Presidents should do with our nuclear weapons. Some people say that having
nuclear weapons is unjust and we should not have weapons that can potentially wipe out millions
or even thousands of people. If this weapon is so powerful like they state, then why does the U.S.
need to build more if the treaty does not want nuclear warfare with any countries that have
nuclear weapons. The author thinks that the Presidents should outline plans to strengthen the
nuclear non-proliferation treaty because the author believes that the nuclear non-proliferation
treaty can be strengthen a lot more than what it has been in the past. In the author's point of view
if our government were to strengthen our nuclear non proliferation treaty then nobody should be
afraid of our country or any other country would go to nuclear warfare against each other.

In The Delegation of the United States of America to the 2010 Review Conference of the
Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons the secretary of state Hillary Clinton talks
about how President Obama was doing everything in his power to reduce the threat of nuclear
weapons and to pursue a world without these weapons and they are willing to take steps into
getting there. As one of those steps since the U.S. is a nuclear weapon state the U.S. should try to
recommit to the three pillars which is nuclear disarmament, access to civilian nuclear energy, and
nonproliferation. The only fear President Obama had was the terrorist group the Al-Qaeda, he
was afraid of that particular terrorist group getting their hands on a crude nuclear weapon device
that can potential kill thousands or even millions of people. Hillary announced that the U.S.
would submit a protocol that we would be a nuclear-weapon-free zone which has also been
establish in Africa and the South Pacific. President Obama had stated that the “United States will
retain a nuclear deterrent for as long as nuclear weapons exist, one that can protect our country
With this speech Hillary stated some good ideas on how President Obama and his
administration are doing what they can on limiting nuclear weapons and trying to have a world
without them. The way President Obama sees nuclear weapons is that instead of making treaties
to not use them, he rather make a treaty to dismantle all of the nuclear weapons in the world and
keep the peace. Hilary had some good points about what they plan on doing, and some of her
idea haven't been forced or brought up anymore after that conference in 2010. Throughout her
speech she kept all her ideas in this circle that did not get off her general idea about NPT and the
steps the U.S. are taking to end all nuclear weapons little by little. Many would like to see all
Zepeda7
these things that Hillary was pointing out because a world without nuclear weapons is the best
idea because nations don't have to be worried about these weapons no more.
In this Article we brought out a fact sheet on what countries have nuclear weapons and
how many they have. To start it off we have Russia and they have approximately 7,300 but only
1,790 are still operational and ready to go, but the other 4,490 are awaiting to be dismantled.
Then here in the United States with 6,970 nuclear warheads and only 1,750 are still operational
and ready to go and the other 4,670 are just sitting around waiting to be dismantled. The U.S.
was the first ever to create this weapon and then later on used in WW2 in Nagasaki and
Hiroshima which had killed over hundreds of thousands of people. Next on the list we have
China with a low 260 nuclear warheads and all of them are waiting to be dismantled. In India
there isn't an actual amount but it’s between 110 to 220 and all of them are awaiting to be
dismantled. Next on the list we have Israel and they have 80 and they are all waiting to be
dismantled. Next we have France and they have 300 and 280 are still operational and only 20 are
awaiting dismantle. The one country that is still unknown is North Korea but report says there is
approximately 4 and they are all operational. Second to last we have Pakistan with around 110 to
130 and they are all waiting to be dismantled. Last but no least we have the United Kingdom
In this article it talked about how many nuclear weapons each country had that possesses
this powerful weapon. It also tells us how many are still functional and how many are ready to be
dismantled due to the NPT that is reducing the amount of nuclear weapons each country can
have. But this fact sheet also tells us which country had got rid of all their nuclear weapons
which leaves these countries vulnerable to nuclear attacks if one country was to attack others
Zepeda8
with their nukes. But then again the less nukes we have the better it would be just like our
previous President Obama wanted everyone to live in a world without these dangerous weapons
that would end us all. Something the author of this article leaves out is what countries can be
potential threats with and what are the U.S. intentions with possessing all these weapons.
Another question that might be asked is that the U.S. is still building these weapons of mass
Destruction and why do they need more if they are trying to get rid of them. The key detail to
take from this Article is that since the U.S. was the first to invent this weapon why don’t we have
the most of the weapons than everyone else, Russia is the one that has the most nuclear weapons
This article starts off with a tweet that Donald Trump tweeted, saying how the U.S. "must
greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its
senses regarding nukes”. With this tweet Donald Trump wants to flip things around and change
what previous Presidents have done. Over all these past decades Presidents wanted to reduce
nuclear weapons, but Trump wants to build more and he wants it to be an arms race against all
these other countries. The reason why trump needs more nukes is because of North Korea, and
Trump wants to boost up our nukes like we once did in the late 1950s were the U.S. had over
6,000 nukes. Trump wants to spend over 1.2 trillion dollars on modernizing nukes in the U.S. so
that we can have an advantage with the new tech that is being developed. It also starts talking
about how the U.S. is tuning the nukes by making them lighter and have a bigger blast radius
This article mostly talked about why Trump wanted to build more weapons and why we
need to build more. His excuse is that we need to protect ourselves from North Korea and by
Zepeda9
doing so we need to build more nukes. We already have enough nukes just laying around that
there is no point of wasting so much money on weapons that we already have in our disposal.
North Korea only developed 4 nukes which is nothing compared to the number Russia has or the
number he had back in the late 1950s. Trump is just trying to show how tough he is by showing
