Three New Strengths Of Indian Armed Forces

The Indian army is one of the strongest in the world. After independence, the
country has fought many wars and have won most of them. The win is the result of
both, the bravery of Indian soldiers and arms they are equipped with. When it
comes to arms, the defense ministry along with defense research and development
organization (DRDO) endeavors to make India’s armed forces self-sufficient in
latest artilleries and weapons. Every year, the country spends a massive amount in
strengthening the armed forces and developing advanced and effective weapons.

Light Combat Aircraft Tejas – Tejas is the supersonic fighter aircraft. Hindsutan
Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in association with Aeronautical Development Agency
(ADA) has developed this after long years of effort. Some of the intrinsic features
of Tejas are
• The aircraft has single-seat and single-jet engine
• It is a multirole light fighter aircraft. Tejas is the replacement of MiG-
21 fighters, which has become old now.
• For high maneuverability, Tejas has a tail-less compound delta-wing
configuration with a single dorsal fin.
• It is packed with advanced technologies such as fly-by-wire flight control
system, relaxed static stability, integrated digital avionics system, multi-
mode radar, a flat rated engine and composite material structures.
• The light combat aircraft tejas is not only the lightest, but also the
smallest in its class that is contemporary supersonic combat aircraft
(CSCA)
Brahmos Missile - The Brahmos is a two-stage missile and soon the Indian armed
forces will be equipped with this. Upon introduction, it will strengthen the defence
system of India manifolds. Have a look at some of its noteworthy features.
• The missile has a flight range of 290 KM. It is a supersonic missile and thus,
maintain supersonic speed throughout its flight.
 • The supersonic speed ensures short flight time and lower dispersion of
targets.
• It cannot be intercepted by any other weapon system.
• It works on the concept of “Fire and Forget”
• It has pin point accurate attacking capability.
• Brahmos missile is better than other supersonic missiles in all aspects.
Agni 5 Missile – Agni 5 missile is the nuclear capable surface-to-surface ballistic
missile. DRDO team has been working on this since long time and have now got
the success. The missile has the strike range of 5,000 kilometres. With this
capacity, the missile has become the longest range and most potent in its class.
Some interesting features of Agni 5 Missile are
• The missile work on the concept of ‘Fire and Forget’
• The missile once launched could be stopped only by interceptor missiles that
only Russia, US and Isreal have.
• It covers the distance of 4,900 km within 15 minutes.
• It has strengthen the second strike capability of India, as this missile can be
deployed from mobile launchers. Moreover, it can hide in railway wagon
and transported to another location.
