My out of school community service activity was through Gainesville United Methodist

Church. I took part in setting up activities for the kids in their play time in the gymnasium.. I did
this volunteer work during my junior and senior. I chose to partake in this volunteer work
because it seemed like a fun way to get involved in the community. This community service was
also a way to better a kid’s Wednesday night which I thought was redeeming.
This community service allowed me to grow as a student because it led me to better
understand how to deal with children. This gave me better personal skills and involvement in the
community which lead me to take part in more volunteer opportunities.
I chose this community service opportunity because it was the most fun activity offered
by anyone that I knew. I learned that kids are much easier to deal with than most people think,
and that volunteering can be fun. This information will help guide me in future studies as I will be
more dedicated to serve my community.
This activity showed me that volunteering is fun, but also that I will want to serve the
community more. This will apply to my daily life as I will want to think more about what others
want than what I want.
