IWCF Monthly Update

April 2017 2

Let Your Voice Be Heard

IWCF are committed to improving the quality of our services. Over the past 12 months there
have been significant improvements made to our Question Bank.

As part of the improvements we are currently updating how we capture, process and respond to
candidates feedback. We encourage candidates to send us feedback via the Candidate
Comment Sheet, the Online Assessment Feedback or email us at any time at
comments@iwcf.org.

We understand the importance of questions being clear and understandable to all candidates.
For this reason we are standardising the language within our questions which means that
questions are written and reviewed in a style that is clear and direct, so that the candidate knows
exactly what the question is asking. Graded language eliminates ambiguity, slang, complex
tenses, and colloquial expressions making the language “straightforward” and easy to process
for both native and non-native speakers. Graded language also ensures that technical
competency; not English language competency is tested.

We have also introduced a multi-tiered review process, including a team of technical experts, to
ensure all feedback is reviewed and amendments are made where required. In addition, we
have a team of international translators with extensive well control experience working on
updating all questions to improve the quality of translations in the languages we offer.

We've already introduced significant changes based on candidate feedback and we encourage
candidates to continue to provide us with their feedback.

In order for us to investigate feedback and make amendments to specific questions, we would
ask that you provide us with:

1.The test paper number

2. The question number
3. Clear and detailed feedback

If you have any questions, please contact comments@iwcf.org

Monthly Update - April

Drilling Syllabi Update

In March we issued Information Notice 2017-03 which informed you about the update to the
Level 2, 3 and 4 Drilling Syllabi.

Please be reminded that all primary centres that deliver Drilling Well Control training courses
must resubmit their updated course materials which reflect the changes to the syllabi.

The deadline for submitting the Programme Accreditation Application and Cross Reference
Forms with the course materials is 1st June 2017. Please send these to accreditation@iwcf.org.

All centres should be re-accredited by 1st September 2017. All centres are required to teach to
the new syllabi from 4th September 2017. IWCF assessments will reflect the new syllabi content
from the 4th September 2017.

If you have any questions please let us know by contacting iwcfinformation@iwcf.org

Members Login Area

We are currently updating the Members Login Area of the website. While we are working on this
update you won't be able to access any documents held there. To help in the interim period, we
have uploaded all recent Information Notices on to FORUM so you can access them easily.

If you require any additional information from the Members Login Area please contact
iwcfinformation@iwcf.org for assistance.

Progression and Dispensation Update

Following the release of the updated IOGP Report 476 (August 2016), we recently told you in
Information Notice 2017-04 (April 2017) about changes to the process for progression and
dispensation.

As a result of the update, we no longer require the Employer Recommendation Form or

evidence of qualifications and experience to be submitted. This will significantly improve the
booking process for both candidates and accredited training centres.

Click here to view the IOGP 476 Well Control Training - Levels Guidance Chart.

If you have any questions about the new process for progression and dispensation then please
contact your Account Coordinator directly for assistance or email iwcfinformation@iwcf.org.

Upcoming Bank Holiday

The IWCF offices in the UK and Australia will be closed on Monday 1st May 2017 for the May
Bank Holiday and Labour Day holiday.

Please note there will be no dispatch of assessment materials on this date. Please make sure
we have your dispatch requests before then. Dispatches will resume on Tuesday 2nd May 2017
as normal.

A number of staff will maintain a reduced level of cover on 1st May 2017. If you have an urgent
matter please call the Out of Hours Service for assistance on +44 (0)1674 678120.

Benefits of Online Training

One of our Invigilation providers Victvs has created a blog highlighting the benefits of online
training. IWCF introduced online assessments in late 2016 and we are continuing to develop the
features and improve the user experience using valuable feedback from centres and candidates.

Read Victvs blog here where they discuss the benefits of online testing.
