Suggested Hook:
One crochet hook size 6.00 mm
(Canadian size 4, American size J-10)

TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

Gauge or Tension: 12 dc to 33/4" [9.5 cm] and 7 rows to 31/2" [9 cm] measured over pattern using suggested hook
or any size hook which will give the correct tension.
Wash in cool water, gently cycle. Tumble dry on low heat, maximum 5 minutes. Remove and lay flat to dry.

Break yarn and fasten off.
Small Border: Using CC 3 and with right side facing,
join with sl st in corner. Working on long edge, work
2 sc in end of each row across (make sure number
of sc is divisible by 3), ch 1, DO NOT TURN.
Next Row: Working in front loops only, work in
Reverse sc to end. Break yarn and fasten off.
Next Row: Using CC 2 and with right side facing,
working in unused loops of CC 3, join with sl st in first
sc, ch 3, dc in each sc across, turn.
Next Row: Ch 5, *skip next 2 dc, tr in next dc, tr in
second skipped dc, ch 1; rep from * to last 2 sts, skip
next dc, tr in last dc, turn.
Next Row: Ch 3, dc in each ch-sp and tr across.
Break yarn.
Next Row: Using CC 3 and with right side facing,
join yarn with sl st in first st, ch 1, sc in each st
across, DO NOT TURN.

Repeat these 6 rows of pattern sixteen times more -
17 times in all.
Next Row: Ch 2, hdc in next 4 sts, sc in next 2 sts,
sl st in next 4 sts, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 4 sts,
sc in next 2 sts, sl st in next 4 sts, sc in next 2 sts,
hdc in last 5 sts. Break yarn.
Work Small Border along left edge of one Side Panel
- this will become Panel A.
Work Small Border along right edge of rem Side
Panel - this will become Panel B.
To Assemble: Sew Center Panel to right side of
Panel A, working in unused loops of CC 3 when
sewing pieces tog. Now sew left side of Panel B to
rem side of Center Panel in the same manner.
Note: When working the border along the side edges
of afghan, please note that it is not necessary to work
2 sc around every dc post along as this may cause
the border to become wavy, so please take care. The
afghan shown was done by working 2 sc around
each dc post of 3 rows, then one sc in 4th row as
needed.
Border: Using Dk Periwinkle and with right side fac-
ing, join yarn in upper right hand corner with a sl st,
ch 1, work 2 sc in same st as join, *sc in each sc to
next corner, 3 sc in corner st, sc around dc posts to
next corner, 3 sc in corner st; rep from * once more,
but end last rep by sl st in beg ch-1.
Now working through back loops only, continue as
follows:
Next Round: Ch 3, *3 dc in corner st, dc in each st
across to next corner; rep from * 3 times more, sl st
in top of beg ch-3.
Next Round: Ch 1, sc in same st and in next st, *3
sc in corner st, sc in each st to next corner; rep from
* 3 times more, sl st in beg ch-1.
Repeat the last 2 rounds once more.
Break yarn and fasten off.

When working in back loops only,

insert hook under loop needed
instead of under both loops at top
of stitch.

How to Work Post Stitches

When working a Front Post double crochet, insert hook
from front of work, around post and out on front again
instead of through top loops.

When working a Back Post double crochet, insert hook

from back of work, around post and out on back again
instead of through top loops.
