INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN PLAN 2

Instructional Design Plan: APA Formatting

Utilizing the nine-step instructional design process outlined by Morrison, Ross, Kalman,

and Kemp (2013), an instructional design plan for an APA workshop for college students was

developed. This workshop addresses the instructional problem and learner characteristics

identified in the needs assessment, and follows a thorough task analysis detailing the knowledge

and procedures relevant to the instruction. The instructional objectives were identified and

sequenced, and instructional strategies developed to help learners benefit from the instruction.

The result is an organized and well-defined instructional design plan.

The workshop will address all eight instructional objectives originally identified, and will

include all instructional strategies listed in previous assignments. The instructional design plan

detailed here addresses two of the workshop’s eight objectives. These are:

Objective Domain Level Content Structure Performance

6. The learner will identify Cognitive Application Rules/Principles Application
the need to cite a source via
an in-text citation when
quoting the source.
7. The learner will compose Psychomotor Precision Procedures Application
an in-text citation for
information that has been
quoted.

In order to meet these objectives the following instructional design plan for a 90-minute

lesson will be used. It is based on Gagne’s Nine Events of Instruction (Morrison, Ross, Kalman,

& Kemp, 2013).
