Ms. Johanna Tessa S. Malana

St. Scholastica's College Manila
2560 Leon Guinto Street,
Malate, Manila

Dear Ms. Malana,

Good day! We are the affected parents of the students in K – St. Gudila affected by
DepEd Order No. 03, series of 2018. We would like to request for you to coordinate for us a
meeting with the Admissions Office. Section 5 of the aforementioned order states that “ [xxx]
children who are six years old and above by August 31st of the school year they will enroll in
will be eligible to enter Grade 1”. Our children will not be six years old by August 31 of this
year despite supposedly being qualified to be in Grade 1.

The admissions office assured us sometime last year that they will be fixing this as
soon as possible and told us that they even proposed to DepEd that the affected children take
an exam. However, months after they have informed us of the situation, we still have no update
as to the status of our children. They have only given us a blanket response that they are
working it out. Individually, we have followed up through you, the teachers, and directly with
the admissions office but the response we get is that they are still processing some paper work.

However, time is of the essence and some of us are considering transferring our children to
other schools if this does not get resolved. This is because they might see their other classmates
advance to Grade 1 while they would either stop or repeat kinder. The problem is, some
schools’ have entrance examinations and reservation procedures, which have deadlines.

We would like to continue sending our children to St. Scholastica’s College Manila and
would like to put our worries to rest by having a dialogue with the authorities responsible for
this concern. Our children’s welfare is paramount in this situation and we appeal for your help
to forward our request.

Sincerely yours,

Karla Rose Gutierrez – Larcia
