1. The main idea of the text is that Anne Hathaway is trying to enforce the maternity and
paternity leave throughout the United Nations and tries to get equal pay and equal amount
of time for both parents of the newborn child.
2. I have never read anything about this topic and I cannot make any connections about this
article and other stuff.
3. The author's purpose is to persuade and to inform the audience about the problems with
the companies and their maternity and paternity leave and that the parents of the newborn
child should have the same number of weeks and be on a paid leave.
4. The audience is the members of the United Nations and other politicians. I know this
because in the video it has a board of the UN. The choice of audience affects the text
because she’s trying to enforce it in the Nations.
5. The most relevant details are the way that she brings out companies and all the statistics
from her research on the topic.

support the claim of the speaker.
7. A possible theme for this article is equality between both genders should occur
throughout the world. A section that got me to this is “Though it was created to make life
easier for women, we now know it creates a perception of women as being inconvenient
to the workplace. We now know it chains men to an emotionally limited path.”
8. This text helped me understand the topic in the way that it showed me about all the
problems the women in the world face and the problems with the paternity and maternity
leave.
