(1) (a) Give a detail explanation with the aid of a well labelled diagram on how a digital
camera acquires an image?

(c) Discuss the differences between the CCD and CMOS sensor [5 marks]

(2) (a) Distinguish between erosion and dilation in morphological image processing

(b) Write short notes on the following:
(i ) Color depth (ii) Anti-blooming (iii) Interlacing (iv) Gamma correction

(c) Identify the available color models and give area of applications of each. [6 marks]

(5) (a) Using a suitable equation distinguish between global, local and adaptive thresholding
[ 5 marks]
(b) Global thresholding can be automated using an heuristic approach rather than visual
inspection of the histogram. How can this be carried out? [8 marks]
(c) Differentiate between discontinuity and similarity approach of image segmentation,
give examples of each. [7 marks]
