have a look at the tutorial presentation
which will briefly explain the
structure of simple past tense and past
forms of regular and irregular verbs.
This section aims at helping learners to
recollect the lost memory of grammar
knowledge.

2.Practices
1).Filling the Missing words(Form-
focused)
In this section, learners need to do a
gap filling activity to complete the
sentences with missing words. This is a
form-focused drill that help learners to
practice the past forms of regular and
irregular verbs. But learners still have
the opportunity to be exposed to the
meaning created by contexts in the
short dialogues.

2).Drag and Drop (meaning-focused)

In this section, learners need to drag
correct words or phrases to right boxes
based on the understanding of
meaning of the text. Learners will be
exposed to the form implicitly when
they are doing this activity. At the same
time, they are able to process meaning
beyond words and phrases. Language
are checked to suit for their language
level. The content of this text is about
an event happened in the last Sunday
to provide input for learners to know
how to describe an past event.

3).Watch the video(meaning-focused)

In this section, learners are going to
watch a video with four people talking
about how they spent their last
weekend. During the video, learners
are asked to write down phrases or
sentences that they didn’t know or
those they think useful. In this section,
learners are going to be exposed to
authentic input of simple past tense in
an implicit way and are given
opportunities to get an understanding
of how to use simple past tense to
describe a past event in real
conversation.

4).Picture Description
In this section, learners are going to
have a look at several images. Based on
the context given to them in the activity
instruction, learners are required to
complete a story according to the
images. After that, learners need to
record their speaking through a link to
the website called vocaroo, where they
can record and hear their speaking
output. This section will provide
learners with opportunities to produce
some restricted output.

5).Writing(meaning-focused)
In this section, learners are required to
write a story to describe anything that
happened in the past in their life. This
section will provide learners with
opportunities to produce authentic
writing output. Learners are able to
use any learnt knowledge of target
language to express their idea. A word
limit is set for them to ensure enough
output and negotiation of meaning.

6).Write a comment(Form-focused)
This is the last section, learners will be
asked to read one piece of writing of
their peer classmates and then add a
comment on the writing they read.
Follow up Teachers can check students’ writing
output on Padlet and give feedback
later in class in terms of grammatical
mistakes and other contents.
Since this lesson is a review lesson,
teacher will not teach but only
encourage learners to use materials on
this website for tutorial and practice
when learners have a need. However,
teacher will still give support when
learners need. If learners have any
enquiry on the activities, they can get
access to teacher by email her or ask
her questions later in classroom.
