Write a Job Description

Directions: Select one staff position of a child care center for which to write a job description in
the space below. Include details about the duties and responsibilities of this staff member as
well as requirements to prepare for this type of work. Share with other students and hear what
they wrote for other staff positions. Make sure you include the position name, qualifications and
a description of responsibilities.

Job Description
Position/Staff Role: Substitute

Purpose of the Position: Fill in for a teacher when he or she becomes unavailable

Qualifications: Applicant should be literate and at least 18 years of age, with

experience working in a childcare facility and be CPR certified.

Responsibilities: Must have a flexible schedule and be ready to come in at any time.
Must be able to follow up on curriculum, provide basic needs for children, and uphold
the lead teacher's responsibility.
