What are some examples of climates:Desert, rainforest, tundra, tropical, subarctic
What factors determine a regions climate:Location, proximity to the equator, precipitation,
temperature
Perhaps due to global warming
1: What do the colors indicate about the change in average temperature over time from 1884
to 2012?
increasing temperature of the world
2: In the past 50 years, where has the temperature changed the most?
it appears to be heavily changed in the northern regions of the world
3: Describe the average temperature change from 1880 to 2010.
it appears to be raising at first slowly but after the peak around the 40's it begins to climb
match faster
4: Why is the curve between 1950 and 1980 relatively flat and centered around zero degrees
difference from the baseline? (Hint: how is the temperature change being compared over
time?)
the red is more flat than the black because it is a 5 year average while the black is annual
5: The green bars are called "error bars." They indicate the range of uncertainty that
scientists have about the data on the graph. (Note: Not all error bars are shown.)Why do you
think these error bars are smaller near the year 2000 than in the 1890s?
because by the year 2000 the high temperature had become normal while in 1890 it was
more uncommon
6: Why is the black line so much more variable than the red line? What's the difference
between the data they show?
the black line is more variable because it shows a one year average so it going to varies
year by year, the red on the other hand is showing the average of 5 years making it more
flatter than the black line
7: Draw your prediction on the graph.
