Davis, A. (2017, December 07). How to Stop Being Late for Everything Once and for All.
Retrieved April 13, 2018, from https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/7631186

This source provides multiple suggestions as to how someone can stop being late chronically.
The article talks a lot about the multiple types of people that tend to always be late and
categorizes them such as the deadliner, the producer and the indulger. This source is one of the
most useful ones to me because it can help me develop a better foundation of why people are late
and what type of people are late to build all the rest of my research off of. The classification of
the rationalizer and the rebel classify the common types of people who are late in high school so
this article helps me with identification.

R. (2014, May 22). Why You're Always Late and How to Be on Time improve time
management. Retrieved April 13, 2018, from http://time.com/106815/stop-being-late/

This source much like the first provides reasoning and explanation behind as to why people tend
to be late. This article more so than the first provides ways and strategies for people to be on time
who want to stop being late. This article is useful because it suggest ways to solve the problem
that I can expand on and branch from which is the whole goal of my research. One argument that
I took special notice of in the article is that of what is making us late, where it talks about the
sudden urge before we leave to fix the blinds or check the mailbox multiple times even though
we don’t have to and we should be leaving, this can help me claim later on that often we make
ourselves late in little ways without even noticing.

wheel/201405/how-overcome-chronic-lateness?amp

This pages discusses chronic lateness from all aspects as a whole and also how to overcome it.
This article also talks about an explains that chronic lateness is resistant to many attempts and
forms of change so how we go about solving it has to be specific to certain criteria. This article is
very useful to me because it brings to my attention that not all solutions may be effective and
allows me to formulate one that will work rather than ones that are very general and that I would
hope to work. Overall this article provides to me just a lot of base information and knowledge to
reference in the entirety of the project.

Retrieved April 13, 2018, from http://mustangnews.net/how-to-be-late-for-class-the-dos-and-
donts-of-tardiness/

Unlike any of the other sources this source explains hot to handel being late when it can’t be
avoided. The article dives into things such as how to enter a classroom respectfully, how to
know the consequences and how to minimize the disruption along with more. This is one of my
most important sources to have because it gives me the information I need in order to talk about
a second course of action if for whatever reason being late is unavoidable and the solution
proposed does not succeed. What I found the most important and something I needed to
include in my project was the advice on knowing the consequences so they can be warned of
what may follow. An example the article uses is that you may miss announcements and then be
blindsided by a quiz later in the week.

This fifth source is in the form of a video uploaded to youtube. The video talks about ways in
general to stop being late. One of the key points brought up is that we don’t judge time well and
don’t account for smaller steps to accomplish a goal. This video offers a variety in my sources
as it is not a article and can offer some things that a article can’t and only a video can.

Miller, T. (2013, April 15). How To Diagnose What's Making You Chronically Late. Retrieved
April 13, 2018, from https://lifehacker.com/diagnose-what-makes-you-late-so-you-can-fix-the-
real-is-472944743

This Lifehacker article talks about being late and offers a solution in a similar format to how this
project aims to do. Multiple problems that stem from being late are listed accompanied with their
solutions presented immediately following the statement of the problem. Since this is so similar
to the project in terms of the desired goal of finding a solution I believe I can learn a lot from it
that will help me formulate my final solution. Also the article talks about the assumption that
everything will run smoothly in our life even though we discover this isn’t true about everyday.
Assuming that leads us to estimate the minimum time we need as the time it will take us to
accomplish something which is what I will claim as one of the biggest culprits of what causes us
to be late.

Why I'm Always Late. (2017, February 23). Retrieved April 13, 2018, from
https://waitbutwhy.com/2015/07/why-im-always-late.html

This article explains the differences between acceptable lateness and not acceptable lateness, it
better defines the two and separates them into two groups of okay lateness and not ok lateness,
furthermore it separates people into two separate groups those who don’t feel bad or wrong about
being late (people who don’t have a problem) and people who do feel bad about being late
(These are the people who really do have problems). This will help me classify what people need
a solution which will allow me to narrow down and specify a single solution instead of a much
more broad general one that tries to be applicable to all.

late. Retrieved April 13, 2018, from http://www.businessinsider.com/why-are-people-
chronically-late-2017-4

Unlike any sources before this one this source dives into the more scientific ideology behind why
we tend to always run late and not be on time. The article talks about the way we are wired to
manage time may make us prone to the issue of lateness. The article does pay notion to the belief
that being late is just in some people's personality but mainly argues on the side of science. This
source is one of my most valuable ones because most beliefs that are out there and I have
collected as research material all point as the issue being one that is very self inflicted and
controlled and barely pay attention to scientific aspects and it may be something we are
predisposed to in our brain. Also with the arguments presented I can appeal to an audience that
may be looking for more of a scientifically determined explanation.

The Effects of Being Late for Work on Employers. (n.d.). Retrieved April 13, 2018, from
https://careertrend.com/effects-being-late-work-employers-13223.html

The article discusses the effects and results being late has on you and also the people/ workplace
around you. The article details in specific productivity loss, negative morale, customer
dissatisfaction and productivity loss. This article gives me the material to emphasize the issue of
being late and what it does to us and our environment/surroundings which will allow me to relay
to the audience/reader why this issue warrants a need for a solution. One thing the article talks
about that I felt I needed to include in my project was how being late can affect our productivity,
I can draw the connection between lowering of grades to being late which will even further more
reinforce the need for an implementation of a solution.

The Advantages of Being on Time vs. Being Late to School. (n.d.). Retrieved April 13, 2018,
from http://education.seattlepi.com/advantages-being-time-vs-being-late-school-3477.html

The article discusses the many advantages you rep form always/ consistently being on time for
school, the article talks about not missing crucial information or developing lifelong habits. From
this article I can transfer it’s points to my presentation to further drive home the need and want
for a solution. I can use specifically from the article the argument that being late can develop life
long habits so I can illustrate the extent that the issue can have from a time standpoint going
further than just school.

from https://www.huffingtonpost.com/wait-but-why/why-procrastinators-

This sources images illustrate the process of procrastination in the form of a cartoon using
characters like a monkey to represent instant gratification and a monster to represent the sense of
panic. This series of images that describe procrastination and how it works on a subconscious
level is useful to me so I can easily relate procrastination and tie it with being late as one of the
factors that plays in to being late. Having the graphic saves me time from explaining
procrastination in my own words and acts a variety in my sources since it is not an article nor
video.

Later start time for teens improves grades, mood, and safety. (2017, December 04). Retrieved
April 17, 2018, from http://www.kappanonline.org/later-start-time-for-teens/

This source is in the form of a chart that represents the percentage of kids getting at least 8 hours
of sleep and the time that their school starts in the morning. This source is useful to me because
is straight data and I don’t have a source like that yet and also It can help me draw a connection
between schools starting so early and the difficulty it creates for getting on time to school which
will allow me to make the claim that pushing back school times will help reduce the issue of
lateness in schools.
