OF FLASHCARD IN TEACHING Abstract VOCABULARY Vocabulary teaching is essential as students need to know how words are remembered and stored in their minds. Teaching words is a crucial aspect in learning a language as languages are based on words. The technique used in developing the product will be able to attract the students’ attention as it is an unusual “flashcards”.

This product is versatile. It has benefited the Year 2 students of SJK Tamil Jalan Parit Ibrahim and no denial that it will benefit other students of all ages and levels. Not to forget, the novice teachers will also gain new teaching experience.

Flashcards are very appealing to visual learners. Bright and colourful flashcards with the magical touch will play the trick on learners. There are many strategies can be applied to teach vocabulary effectively, such as word list and flashcards. According to some researchers they discovered that teaching by using flashcards help learners to acquire words more effectively than the use of word list.
Potential For Expansion/ Commercialization/Community Benefits
1. Ensure legibility of words and pictures in the visual. Ensure that these can be seen easily by all the students from where they are seated. 2. Reduce the effort needed in interpreting message. The arrangement of the pictures and words in the visual should aid or impede the understanding of the message the visual is trying to convey. 3. Increase active engagement of viewer with message. Make the visual appealing so that students’ attention is captured, enticing them to think about the message. 4. Focus attention on the most important parts of the message. Direct the attention of the students to the most important parts of the visual so that they can understand the ‘flow’ of the message.
