Brothers and Sisters, This isn’t about money. The response from AT&T regarding our unfair labor practice actions show that they do not understand or care about what our Members are telling them. They continue to send propaganda emails in an attempt to undermine our elected bargaining committee. This is about bargaining in good faith with those we elected to represent us. The first email from the Company went out on 5/22. It was sent to the entire Midwest CWA Wireline bargaining unit. Immediately following this email District 4 filed board charges against AT&T for direct dealing. The Company was notified of the charges and their response was to send another email on 5/23. Both of these emails directed our Members to contact their stewards, local leaders, and Bargaining Committee. Per the directions of the email and the outcry of disgust from the Membership we held meetings across the entirety of District 4 to comply with AT&T's request. The response from our Membership? No to your final offer. Bargain with our elected Bargaining Committee. The Company's response to our Members? They sent three more emails! Emails were sent on 5/25, 5/29, and on 5/31. The brazen violation of labor law, the blatant ignoring of the District 4 board charges, and the stunning disrespect towards our Membership was more than could be tolerated. A spontaneous unfair labor practice action spread across the District. The Members walked out the door based on the direct dealing the Company is engaged in with those emails. This is about the emails. This is about good faith bargaining. This is about our Members not tolerating the reprehensible dirty corporate tactics being employed by AT&T. Stop sending the emails. In solidarity, Communications Workers of America Representing District 4 CWA STRONG
