Beam house
Beam house
By starting producing leather the first step takes place in the Beam house. Those procedures are the preparation
of the skin from bovines, sheeps, goats, bigs, camels, birds, fishes and other animals for the leather production.
Soaking, liming, degreasing and pickling require high performance auxiliaries in order to receive the best quality of
intermediate leather products in the subsequent production processes.
Soaking
This procedure removes dirt and preservation salt from the raw skins and the original water content will be easily
restored. Premium quality results after the traditional leather production process will be received by using BUSSETTI
wetting- and degreasing agents which are Made in Austria/EU.

Tanning materials
Tanning materials
To avoid further rotting process of the per-treated raw skin, different chemicals can be used to crosslink the
3-dimensional matrix of the protein chains. This procedure is called tanning and in general four different kinds of
tanning processes are well known in the industry: mineral, vegetable, synthetic and aldehyde / oil tanning.
Mineral Tanning
The standard nowadays is the use of Chrome(III)sulphate and Aluminium(III)-sulphate. For tanning, retanning and
fixing we recommend our BUSSETTI product portfolio as follows:

These quality chemicals are based on synthetic building blocks which are similar to the natural tanning materials, but
show better efficiency and less impurities to avoid any negative side effects.

Fatliquors
Fatliquors
The main task of the fatting agents is to replace the original water content and function inside the leather skin. They
enable and support the leather producer achieving an excellent soft and smooth leather skin. We offer a broad
natural or synthetic fatting agents portfolio for treating the tanned skin through intensive flexing. For the optimum
fixing of the fatting agents in the different kinds of leathers our fatliquors are modified in many different ways.
Our product portfolio covers all kinds of different fatting agents as anionic, cationic, non-ionic, hydrophobic and
polymeric fatting agents. In addition we offer also neutral oils for additional and refatting.
Anionic Fatliquors
As a basic material for our anionic products we use natural and synthetic raw materials which become water
soluble by sulphating and/or sulphiting processes. Our SULTIT product line represents the sulphited fatting agents,
sulphated fatting agents are encompassed by our OLINDOL and LARONAT product line. Combinations of sulphited
and sulphated processes are our SULTOSOL series.
All our products can be combined and mixed with different kinds of vegetable oils as rapeseed oil, soya oil and
linseed oil. Further fish and synthetic oils can be used. Our PELANTOL series consist of emulsions of water and oil
mixtures (i.e. lecithine) and can be anionic or non-ionic.

Waterproofing Fatliquors
Hydrophobic materials are used to reduce water penetration of the finished leather goods during the leather
production process. Depending on the production process and chemicals used, the hydrophobic effect can be
adjusted to have a short, medium or long term water repellent effect. Short term water repellent leathers are often
used for sports and hunting articles. Fatting agents providing long term water resistance are applied for military
leather.

Non-Ionic Fatliquors
Non-ionic fatting agents combine the advantages of anionic and cationic fatting agents. They can be used for multi-
purpose applications and deliver very good light fastness. Due to their small particle sized emulsion our non-ionic
fatting agents have an excellent storage stability.
