WHO AM I?
I am Taylor Chung, a Year 10 Academic Scholar at Renaissance College Hong Kong. I am an
individual with a strong work ethic who really enjoys contributing to the RCHK Community. I
also enjoy spending time with friends and family on the weekends and holidays, and hope to
eventually become a politician or lawyer.

LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE ROLES


Founder and Leader | Seeds 4 Change
AUGUST 2015 – TO PRESENT
I founded the Seeds 4 Change Team 2 years ago in order to create positive change at RCHK.
Since then, it has grown into a large team which aims to improve student well-being at RCHK.
So far, we have run over 5 events during the 2017-18 Academic Year. As the founder and
leader, my job is to organise volunteers, the core team and make decisions regarding finances
and future events.
Deputy Secretary General | Renaissance College MUN 2018
APRIL 2017 – TO PRESENT
I am the Deputy Secretary-General (DSG) for the upcoming Model United Nations conference
at Renaissance College which will entail over 300 delegates coming to partake in our
conference. As the DSG of the conference, I support in the preparation of catering, logistics
and communications within the team. I also work in the Selection Process of Committee
Directors who wish to chair different committees within the conference.

AUGUST 2017 – TO PRESENT
I joined Model United Nations 2 years ago as a student who wanted to learn more. 2 years
later, I am one of the leaders/directors of my school's Jr Model UN Team. I come up with
lessons and train and prepare students from Grade 6-9 for upcoming Model UN Conferences.
Some of the things taught include public speaking, critical thinking and the analyzation of
Geo-Politics. I run several mini-simulation conferences throughout the year, allowing students
to gain experience and practice their skills before entering a Hong Kong Wide Conference.
Core Team Leader | RCHK Secondary Sustainability Team
MARCH 2015 – TO PRESENT
Joining the Leadership Team 3 Years ago, previously I led the Gardening Team which grew
herbs and vegetables which were used within our school cafeteria to promote healthy eating.
Now, I have moved into Event-Coordination, Policy Making and Wide-Scale Promotion since
they align better with my current skills. So far, I have co-ordinated multiple events including a
School-Wide Plastic Container, Plastic Cutlery and Paper Plate Free day as well as revamping
our school’s Earth Day which was featured in Hong Kong’s SCMP Young Post. Currently, I am
working to remove plastic straws within the school with various suppliers while also working
with another Team Member to bring Solar Panels to our school.
Student Supervisor and Trainer| RCHK Battle of the Books Team
OCTOBER 2017 – TO PRESENT
I participated as a competitor in Battle of the Books starting in Year 4, 6 years later I have
joined the Secondary Competition as a Trainer for the RCHK Secondary Team! I attend
meetings during Thursday lunchtimes and help to ask questions to members about the
different books to prepare them for the competition on the 4th of May 2018.
Contributor| Year 10 Focus Group
AUGUST 2017 – TO PRESENT
As a contributor of the Y10 Focus Group, I work with my fellow contributors to suggest new
ideas to help improve the school. We discuss ideas and hope to make positive change at
school.
Head Writer and Editor | Year 10 Newsletter Advice Column
AUGUST 2017 – TO PRESENT
As the head writer and editor of the Advice Column, I help to choose the different questions
we are sent every week to write about. I write about practical ways to solve various problems,
while also incorporating humour in it. As editor, I also help to assign jobs to people while also
editing the things that they write. The Y10 Newsletter is published bi-weekly
Student Group Leader| Y9 REAL Week
JANUARY 2017– TO APRIL 2017
As one of the student group leaders, I helped to lead a group oriented about refugees in
multiple places. I helped to supervise what was going on in my group, while also supervising
the “voice” change group.
Bread Runner | Feeding Hong Kong
2014 – TO PRESENT
I work with a team of friends to collect day-old bread from bakeries across Hong Kong and
bring it to a warehouse in Yau Tong where it can be redistributed to the poor in Hong Kong
through schools and community centres.
Volunteer | RCHK School Fair
2016 AND 2017 FAIRS
During the 2016 fair I helped to sell raffle tickets at the front of the school, and then I helped
to clean up/pack down the fair afterwards. In the 2017 fair, I helped by working at the rock
climbing wall activity to belay small children up the wall and bring them back down.
