Examination regulations – Grading system

Grades

1 very good and excellent performance

2 good performance considerably above the average requirements

3 adequate performance corresponding to average requirements

4 satisfactory performance despite its deficiencies still meeting the


demands - passing
5 unsatisfactory performance that no longer meets the requirements
due to its considerable deficiencies.
Passing and failing of exams

• Passing: student obtains credits and grade


• Failing: student obtain grade and negative credits (Maluspunkte)
• max. 40 negative credits allowed for the whole course
• Compulsory modules have to be repeated
• Electives can be repeated
• Free attempt: Improvement of the grade of a passed exam at
the next regular examination date, if you have attended to
the first examination date according to the study plan
Cheating and Plagiarism

• Cheating: Usage of illegal means or incorrect/missing quotation


– assessed as unsatisfactory (grade 5)
• Plagiarism: Copying of papers or articles or parts of it and ideas
without indicating the source, incorrect/missing quotations
• Familiarize with scientific writing rules!
• Plagiarism can lead to expulsion from the university!
Master‘s thesis

• Processing period: 6 months


• Registration of thesis topic and advisors in time at the
examination office
• Extra time only if you have a good reason (proven illness, delay
due to circumstances beyond your control)

It is not possible to register later nor to participate in an exam without


registration!
