EXPECTANCY AS PARACHUTE

Uncountable times we entrust our lives

to people and things surrounding us,
based on the faith that they act or react,
exactly the way we expect them to:

we trust that what is made or built

to fulfil a need, desire or wish
will function just the way it should.

So, we cross the roads in many places,

expecting that the cars won’t hit us
and go up by stairs and elevators,
convinced they won’t fall and fail us.

We move to houses in “safer” regions,

expecting acceptance by new neighbours
and entrust our children to their teachers,
supposed to teach and protect them for us:

we jump anywhere, every day of our lives,

using “expectancy” as our parachute
