Background info & Application

- Arecoline is an alkaloid obtained from the betel nut, fruit of a palm tree or
found in nut.
- It is used to form varous salts as a ganglionic stimulant, a
parasympathomimetic and a vermifuge.
- Soluble in water, alcohol, and ether.
- It has been used as a euphiriant in the pacific island.
- Alzheimer’s disease is cognitive decline and arecoline was suggested as a
treatment. It shows modest verbal and spatial memory improvement in
alzheimer’s patients.
- Can be used to treat cocaine abusers and maintain them on treatment
programs of slow withdrawing from the drug

Background Information & Application

- Gingerol is a compound separated from the root of the ginger.


- Lower Blood Sugar
- It has the anti-emetic properties due to its ability to inhibit the anti-serotonin 3
receptor function.
- It’s also has a great anti-inflammatory which reduces pain and soreness, and
antioxidant effect which prevents the producing of free radical which damage
cells (Leech, 2017).
- It is considered as worldwide herbal medicine, which reduces the risk of many
diseases, such as cancer.
