1.

General objective

This method statement describes the activities, procedure and method of the Road base Work for The
Project for Construction of upriver Comoro bridge.

This works shall be done in accordance With the requirements of American society of state highway and
transportation official (AASHTO) and specifications and/or other international equivalent standard.

2. Reference Publications

This Pavement Plan is based on the following documents.

l. AASHTO (American Society of the state Highway and transportation Official)

2. JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard)

3. Project Specification (Section 2 & 3)

3. Scope of Works

The work described in this method statement detail the activity for each stage of the work for the
provision

and completion of road base work. Also this statement described the responsibilities of personnel

involved, equipment to be used, safety factors and document to be record for this work statement.

The work shall be conducted in accordance with the typical cross section shown on the Drawings or as

directed by the Consultant.


6. Quality & Safety Control Procedure

the work.

2) All Equipment and Machineries will undergo daily inspection.


Step -1

Survey, Setting out, Provide reference pegs .And excavate to designed Sub-base level and remove

any obstructive and/or organic materials .In the case of embankment section ,the sound ground

surface shall be exposed prior to General fill work.

1) Case of Cut section

*Proof rolling Test.

*Field Density Test

*CBR Test

2) Case of Embankment section Removal of obstructive(test and compaction won’t be required for the
natural ground before embankment)

Safety

Install Barricade around working area.


Step-2

Prior to placing Sub-base material, the natural ground shall be shaped and all unsuitable materials shall
be disposed and replace by suitable materials in accordance with the direction of the consultant.
Step 3

In the case of rough ground surface, Regulation layer must be required for uniformed compaction of
upper layer. General fill material shall be used for regulation layer, and the thickness of compaction
layer can‘t exceed 30cm for well compaction.The regulation layer shall be piled up to approximately
300mm higher than highest level of natural ground at current location.

Check point

1)test such as FDT and CBR won’t be required for the regulation layer.

2) Flntness

Safety

The driver of Compaction roller must pay special attention when it back.

Step 4

Moisture level of the embankment materials shall be adjusted by spreading water with Water tank
truck. Then will be compacted by Vibration roller. Small roller or Rammer may be used for narrow space
or edge of embankment accordingly. And the thickness of compaction layer can’t exceed 30cm for well
compaction. The width of embankment shall be 300-500mm wider than design in order to compact. The
edge of embankment well.

4) *CBR value (After final layer of Sub-grade)

5) *Proof rolling test (After final layer of Sub-grade)

Step 5

Finally the slope will be trimmed by excavator in

order to maintain the given gradient in the

approved shop drawing.

Working area should be off-limited PPE must be used and checked daily
.
