Dr. Bruce & Peggy Oldham
Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary
June 24th at 6:00pm
Dr. Bruce serves as the president of Asia-Pacific
Nazarene Theological Seminary in Manila,
Philippines, where Dr. Peggy is also on the teaching
faculty and a consultant in student life and campus
development. They have been special assignment
missionaries on the Asia-Pacific region since
September 2016.
Prior to their move to APNTS, the two worked in various roles at
Nazarene universities from 1991-2016; they also served in local church
pastoral staff positions in Florida, Tennessee, and Alabama. They have
now taken on a new adventure, hand-in-hand with a dedicated faculty and
staff, a multicultural student body from 17 nations, and the Asia-Pacific
region, training pastors, missionaries, and teachers for ministry.
Since 1984, Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary has
dedicated itself to “bridging cultures for Christ” and equipping each new
generation for Christ like leadership and ministry excellence. Five masters
programs, three PhD degrees, and a new Doctor of Ministry curriculum
focus on personal and community transformation in the Wesleyan
tradition, with over 500 graduates now serving Christ and sharing the
gospel around the world.
We will be taking up an offering for the Oldham’s.

Broken but there is Hope
Last week when we visited the women’s pod,
there were 66 women there. The space is very
small. They sleep on the floors and under the
bunk beds. They share a total of 4 toilets and 2
showers. Many of them feel so hopeless and in despair. It is very
heartbreaking to see women in this state. Bringing the message of
hope, love and joy about a God who cares for them is such a great
opportunity. Please continue to pray for these women in need of a
savior. Also, please keep this ministry in your prayers as we minister.
MICAH 6:8 MINISTRY from Sandy Schefcik
Did you know… that on June 4, 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled
7-2 in favor of Jack Phillips, the Colorado baker, who in 2012 refused
to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple? Phillips, an expert
baker who has owned his business, the Masterpiece Cakeshop, for 24
years, concluded that his Christian faith wouldn’t allow him to create a
custom-baked cake for two men wishing to celebrate their matrimonial
union. Rather than simply picking a different bakery, they took their
complaint to the Colorado Civil Rights Commission. The commission
investigated the case and found that Phillips had violated the couple’s
rights—this despite the fact that the baker’s understanding of marriage
was at that time perfectly in keeping with Colorado law. The Supreme
Court ruled that Colorado’s Civil Rights Commission had evidenced
hostility to Phillips religious convictions in arriving at its decision and
therefore abridged his First Amendment rights. Justice Kennedy in the
opinion says “it can be assumed” that a clergyman could not be
compelled to perform a same-sex service.
