SNEABJ SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

This scholarship is awarded to deserving students who have a desire to


pursue a career in Journalism or a Communications─related field.
Application deadline is June 29, 2018.

Applicant Requirements:
Must be:
• College student who is currently enrolled or entering into an accredited
college/university in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Rhode Island with a major in
either a journalism or a communications-related field with the interest of pursuing
a journalism career; or
• High school senior who is currently enrolled full-time at a high school in Connecticut,
Massachusetts, or Rhode Island with an interest in majoring in journalism or a
communications-related discipline at an accredited college/university in Connecticut,
Massachusetts, or Rhode Island following graduation
• Must have a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0
• Must have at least one year of school remaining at the time of the application
submission

SNEABJ Scholarship Policies:


 All applicants G.P.A. must be verified by high school or college transcripts. Finalists will
need to provide an official transcript.
 Scholarship awards may be used for tuition and school-related expenses.
 A scholarship selection committee will select the winners based on SNEABJ's scoring
system and adherence to the application guidelines and requirements.
 Scholarship award winners are not eligible to reapply to any SNEABJ scholarships.

Cover letter: Explain journalism or other relevant experience, academic accomplishments, career
goals, community involvement and financial need (500─800 words)
Essay Question: What are the top three personal experiences or current events that have inspired
you to pursue your chosen career path and what do you hope your legacy will be? (1,000─2,000
words)
