Reading Passage Module 1-SG

My name is Patrick and I come from Ireland. I am 24 years old and I live in a small town near the nice city of Dublin.
I don't have a job now, but normally I clean shop windows. I am not married but I live with my very beautiful
girlfriend, Maria, in a nice house. We don't have any children...maybe next year. My girlfriend is an actress, but she
isn't very famous. She acts in a small theatre in our town. I normally get up at eight o'clock, but on Thursdays I get
up at six o'clock because that is the day when I go running in the park.

At the weekend, we like playing basketball and then we go out with friends and
have a drink in “Temple Bar”, one of the most popular areas in Dublin. The
“Temple Bar” area is a square on the south bank of the River Liffey with narrow
streets full of pubs, shops, restaurants, boutiques, galleries and cafes. On
Sunday nights I enjoy reading. I love having a cup of tea while reading a good
book. My favourite book is “Ulysses” by James Joyce. I have read it five times at
least and I never get tired of reading it. James Joyce once declared that if Dublin
“one day suddenly disappeared from the Earth it could be reconstructed out of my book “Ulysses”.
