LAB SHEET
(SOLAR OBSERVATION)

AIM

The aim of this practical is to determine the azimuth of a reference line by solar observations.
On completion, the students were expected to have acquired sufficient experience in
performing the solar observation.

TASK

Each student must observe and complete at least 15 sets of solar observation sheets.

EQUIPMENTS

Theodolite, Tripod, Plumbob, Compass, Sunglass, Star Almanac for Surveyors (for sun
declination and correction for the vertical angle).
Other information such as the observation sheet, coordinates of the station and origin can be
obtained from the JSUG equipments store.

SUBMISSION

Each student is to submit a well written report with at least 15 completed solar observation
sheets. Emphasis must be given on the results and error analysis. Each completed solar sheet
must be verified by the Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer prior to be included in the report.

DUE DATE

One week before final examination begin.
