Dear Dean of Admissions,

I am applying for admission to Calvin College. It is my first choice of college due to my

family history of alumni. My brother presently attends Calvin College, and has highly influenced
me in my decision. I have attended Fridays at Calvin, and found it was a blessing to experience
the campus and the Christ-like, soothing atmosphere of the college. It is my desire to engage in a
Christ-centered education, which Calvin is known for. The field of study I am considering is that
of engineering. Calvin’s unique engineering program is the third most popular major, and 96
percent of its graduates are employed.
I am a high honor student with a GPA of 3.85. I will be able, therefore, to contribute to
Calvin’s high academic standards due to my hard work ethic and diligence to my studies. Some
of my strengths include persistence and patience in problem solving. One of my skills include
building and constructing items as a hobby. On campus or anywhere I go, I will demonstrate a
Christ-like attitude that will bring praise to God, and reflect His love and mercy toward others. I
am committed to my faith and reformed beliefs. Along with these beliefs, I will maintain the
characteristics of honesty, responsibility, and integrity in all aspects of my life.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to consider my application. An opportunity
of attending Calvin College would be of great importance to me. I look forward to hearing from
you and receiving further information concerning my application.
