Reflection #2

For this assignment, I will be choosing to reflect on Document Interpretation #1: The

Other. For this assignment, we were given a variety of primary source documents and our job

was to analyze the documents and connect it to our readings. For this assignment, I had wrote

about the document, Micmac Chief’s Observation of the French. This was our very first

document interpretation so I was nervous about it. As I was reading the document, I was kind of

confused with it. I had a very hard time analyzing it and trying to interpret/analyze it while trying

not to summarize and merely repeat what the document was saying. What skills do you feel this

assignment helped you to develop the most? I feel as if this assignment has really helped me

develop my analyzing skills. Because we had to analyze and interpret the document, I was able

to learn how to do it. What are your learning goals for your next assignment? What skills do you

feel you need to work on more? Explain your answer. For the next document interpretation, I

want to work on making connections. By this, I mean connecting the primary source document

to the assigned readings and chapters. I did do that for this assignment, but I feel as though I

should incorporate more information from the readings to really make that connection.

Surprisingly, I actually did very well on this assignment. I got all points for it, so I guess this

assignment wasn’t as tough to tackle as I had initially thought. Thankfully, the requirements for

this assignment has ultimately helped me in other classes, especially when it comes to analyzing

and interpreting something.
