NOTA FINAL 13
DEAD POET’S SOCIETY
Dead poet’s society is a film that takes place in Walton academy which is a
prestigious and traditional institute with a strict policy based on realist
administration. In the beginning of the film, we were presented with the school
motto: “tradition, honor, discipline and excellence” it means that you have to follow
the rules to become an excellent professional. And I just apply three of them:
honor, discipline and excellence for example when I have to do something I try to
do my best and I try to be a better person every day with honor and discipline and
the other one – tradition – no because I don’t like to be traditional I prefer to be
different and original.
In the film my favorite actor is Mr. Keating he is a new teacher in the academy, he
is a nice person who like to enjoy every single day and I like this actor because he
believe that the boys should have their own freedom of thought and he also
emboldens them with the refrains of CARPE DIEM (seize the day) which is to live
life to the fullest by not conforming, and a great phrase from him was " we must
look at things in different way" it means to look at life in the present and outside the
perspective of the world.
In conclusion I could say that as a citizen of XXI century that have the freedom to
choose. I could not understand how the students of the past were educated they
just had to obey the rules set by their parents or schools without the possibility to
choose what they really want to be o do which is very important because if you are
going to do something that you really like it is probably that you are going to be the
best doing that, but if you don’t like you’re going to be the worst.
Dead poet society: composition
Dead poet society is a film starred by the deceased Robin Williams and a, then,
thriving cast of young actors. Throughout the unfolding of events there is a motto,
an old phrase that carries a message full of hope: carpe diem. This sentence,
which was first formulated by the ancient Latin lyric poem Horace, expresses the
idea of the ever-present momentum; that is: we are and must be always living the
‘now’ and that the past and the future are no longer to be concerned on. At least
not as our main focus.
Regarding the character that drew my attention the most, I will say that it was
undoubtedly the teacher Mr. Keating. It is his approach to dealing with his students
what would allure anyone as he is always consequent with his principles of living
the now and bold against authorities and critics alike when defending his methods.
All in all, this movie greatly portrays how we should tackle with our lives in any
moment by striving for our dreams.
