Topic: Steel making process
General Purpose: To Inform
Specific Purpose: At the end of my speech, the audience should be able to identify what is the correct
process to Steelmaking and use to build buildings, residences, etc.

I. Introduction:

A. Attention-getter: Steel has been used in construction since the first skyscrapers were
built in the late 19th century. But recently, steel has become an option for smaller
buildings and even personal residences. Steel is considered a “green” product in that it is
entirely recyclable. In fact, a builder will be able to buy recycled steel for a new
commercial building or home.

B. Link-to-Audience: For Civil Engineers is very important to know about it because

Steel is the world's most popular construction material because of its unique combination
of durability, workability, and cost. According to the World Steel Association, some of
the largest steel producing countries are China, Japan, US, and India. China accounts for
roughly 50 percent of this production.

C. Central Idea: Steel can be re-used without effecting the environment and the
Construction with Steel components is very fast compared to other materials. Finally the
Steel construction is a fast method of construction.

II. Transition, Main Point 1: Preparing the mineral of iron

A. Crushing raw materials.

B. Blending and Burning.

III. Transition, Main Point 2: The impurities are removed

A. The mineral is whashed to remove dirt.

B. It’s crushed into sand.

C. The sand is sieved anda then again seprated from the ore.
IV. Transition, Main Point 3: Limestone, coke and ore are introduced in The Blast furnance and
Finished Products

A. Structural shapes
B. Use in Railway lines

V. Conclusion

A. Transition, Main idea. Today we have identified aspects of the Steel making process:
(1) Preparing the mineral of iron, (2) The impurities are removed (3) Limestone, coke and
ore are introduced in The Blast furnance. (4) Fineshed Products. and transportation.

B. Clincher: It is important to know because Steel can be re-used without effecting the
environment. Civil Engineers need to know about that, because Construction with Steel
components is very fast compared to other materials and Steel construction is a fast
method of construction.
