‘SPORT’ ROAD BIKE
The sport road bikes, with a price range almost identical to the fit range (€370 to €750) are perfect for
getting off to a flying start in the racing bike world.
These bikes will allow you to train more often (several times a week), no matter the course. You can even
take on the mountains thanks to their tailored gear ratio; however, don’t get ahead of yourself. You are
going to need a certain amount of training, even with the lightest bikes, if you want to take on the
legendary mountains of the Tour de France.
With this Sport range, you will enjoy a genuine road handlebar, so you can assume a wide range of
different positions, from ultracomfortable (hands at the top of the handlebar, near the stem) to highly
aerodynamic (hands at the bottom of the handlebar) to go faster and ensure greater bike stability during
descents, greater precision on bends and more powerful braking.
All the BTWIN TRIBAN models will allow you to change gear next to the brake levers, without needing to
take your hands off the handlebar.
The BTWIN TRIBAN 3A and 5A frames are made from aluminium 6061, an alloy widely used in
aeronautics. These frames come with a lifetime guarantee.
The BTWIN TRIBAN 7A uses aluminium for the front of the frame and carbon for the rear and the fork,
ensuring extra comfort and rigidity, while reducing the weight of the bike.

‘COMPETITION’ ROAD BIKE
With competition road bikes, you are entering the realm of highlevel bikes, the same used by professional
cyclists.
This is the perfect choice for competitive or sports cyclists, who practise their passion very regularly on a
huge range of different courses.

A 100% carbon frame for maximum response and rigidity, providing the best combination of moderate
weight and comfort.
N.B.: For anyone not used to such bikes, you ride in a real ‘racing’ position, lying down for the greatest
possible aerodynamics.
With a weight varying from 8.9kg for the FACET 3 (€999.95) to 7.4kg for the FACET 7 ESR Di2 (€3749.95),
you will be getting your own Formula 1 racer.
The FACET 7 has the same carbon frame used by the U19 Racing team. These bikes are every bit as
good as the major brands used by the professionals.
From about €1500 upwards, you will be getting a real topoftherange frame. The only difference with the
more expensive models is the equipment (groupsets, wheels and peripherals).
The BTWIN FC 7 Matt Black (€1599.95), for example, is the bike used by the junior riders in the U19
Racing team. This is a comfortable bike, but one which will satisfy the most powerful cyclists with tried and
tested equipment.
N.B.: You must take care with this type of bike, however. Because of their light weight and precision,
they will need regular maintenance.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT SIZE OF ROAD BIKE
Once you have chosen the type of bike which best matches your goals and budget, all you need to do is
select the right size.
The most important measurement to select the most suitable frame height is the inside leg.
To get your inside leg measurement, you will need someone to help you. Stand up straight against a wall,
barefoot and in your underwear. You then need to move your feet apart by about 15 to 20 cm and then
take a measurement from your pelvic bone to the floor. Measure this 3 times and calculate the average of
the 3 measurements.
You will then be able to work out the height of the frame, depending on the bike chosen, by applying a
fairly simple formula:
► Fit road bike: Inside leg x 0.66
► Sport road bike: Inside leg x 0.655
► Competition road bike: Inside leg x 0.65
One you have calculated the frame height, you will probably find it falls between two sizes of frame. It will
then be your total size and the length of the frames that will determine what you need.
For a more ‘sporty’ frame, you should choose the lower size; for a more comfortable frame choose the
higher size. Of course, the length of the stem must be adjusted.
