COURSE SYLLABUS IN CS 3113 (Multimedia and Animation)

COURSE TITLE : Multimedia and Animation


COURSE CREDIT : 3 Units - 90 HOURS (54 hours LEC, 36 hours LAB)

COURSE DESCRIPTION : This course deals with the concepts and foundation of multimedia design. It covers discussion on the planning and designing of
Multimedia software for implementing multimedia design, and important principles for working with text, graphics, animation, sound
and video. The discussions are followed by hands-on projects and case studies. It equip students with the skills to develop interactive
multimedia application which combine audio, video, text, animation, and still images. It investigates the use of several authoring tools
multimedia production & the ways in which media components can be presented and integrated into final multimedia productions.

PRE-REQUISITE : CS ELEC 311 S1 (HTML/Web Page Design) Comp 111 (Basic Computer Operation and IT Fundamentals)

GENERAL OBJECTIVES : After completing the course, the student must be able to:
1. Describe several major trends occurring in computer multimedia software and Multimedia Application in Film Making
Productions ;
2. Understand the concepts and foundation topics of multimedia design.
3. Classify the different components of multimedia and define its functions.
4. Learn how to interconnect each multimedia driven software components.
5. Work on a multimedia-powered web-based application design.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS : Lab exercises, recitations, homework, seatwork, quizzes, and exams.
